Marigold tuts. "You likely overwhelmed the poor lass."

A sigh from Baron Aiden. "I was... overcome. To have lost not one, but two such pivotal figures in her life, in one blow... and to be made to watch their violent demise? If the duel had not been resolved, and the man not already claimed for tenfold... I would have gone for him myself. Nadeen... she does not deserve such pain."

The Boggan mmms to herself. "Would you have it taken from her?"

Aiden's eyes narrow a bit, and after a moment, he shakes his head. "It is not my decision to make. When it was... it made sense. But now... I do not know. Marigold, I do not regret making the offer to her, but I hope it does not seem... reaching, or inappropriate. She is young yet, and it could seem that I am trying to gain power over her."

The boggan nods. "It could seem that way, and to many it will, regardless of the truth. Well do I know the power of gossip. But there's no need to seek out trouble before it comes calling. She may not wish to stay with us, after all. The good folk at Rivervale are sure to find her a place. That Anne Marie of theirs is one clever cookie."

"As long as she wants for nothing. Here, there, or elsewhere." He says firmly. "It may be counter to your nature, Marigold, but please - try to staunch any gossip on her behalf. There is plenty of material to spread on the duel without involving her.

She nods, patting him on the arm like she might comfort a small lad. "Don't you worry your head about it."

A smile, and he leans in to place a soft kiss on the boggan's forehead. "You've always looked out for all of us. Thank you."

He gets a swat on the arm. "Don't you be silly, it's my job, after all. Now you get gone and take care of yours." Marigold smiles.

So he does.
