One of which is a quill-sharp mind, of course.

She has narrowed it down to an Indo-Aryan language . Which is still huge in options.

She has also learned that the paper itself is a minor treasure, almost a 'gag' treasure.

Apparently it changes what you write on it to a random language. Writing the word 'Escape' in a corner, it immediately changed to Portquese... JUST escape, the other word, whatever it is, stayed, BUT... if she puts glamour on the sheet, it might 'reroll' languages for both words.

Of course, it might be yet another language she doesn't have and she might not understand that either

There's room on that page... and there might be a sister language. She could make guesses on romance languages, at least. She neatly pens the word "enigma."

A frown - the original word is unchanged?

Only new words get scrambled then it sets to stick in whatever. Unless she wishes to spread glamor, and even in a hold that could eventually be very costly.

She feeds some glamour into the page.

It's like watching a slot machine with script roll by...various languages most almost too quickly for the eyes to see

(She may try to 'catch it' as it rolls by fast... Wits Plus Alertness, it will probably only give her one letter at best if it doesn't come up to be a language she knows)

Damn. While the word escape is now in Spanish, the original clue word is now in Navajo

And she did not see the shift give any clues as it scrolled by

A flustered huff, since the languages are not the same. Spanish is workable, but Navajo is not.

Puzzle is in French. THAT she could have done. Mmm

If only that 'do not cast cantrips' dictum wasn't pulsing in this room. But she is a genius. She can figure this out. Either by taking another 'roll' at the cost of glamour or... or perhaps writing small letters in what space is left and seeing if the original language is recreated? IT might give her insights. Though that too is a matter of luck, it would save glamour.

What if she copies the original word, as is?

One can almost imagine a lightbulb appearing at this idea that even an ST might miss, though as this story is about a sluagh, it would be less garish, perhaps a proper shadow casting candle of an idea. Regardless... it might work! Eventually it would give her perhaps the most common number of letters and clues as to some of those letters. She KNOWS the randomizer has hit Spanish and French for other words.

Because the "Navajo" word should appear in a new language... for "free," even.

And she'd seen the previous ones...

Not only does she have this word, she has the others... she keeps notes, sees what becomes what as she rewrites the original word over and over...

Which, if one translated to English... it might be seen as 'Unleash!'

Which makes sense, Unleashing is.. not casting, it might bypass the dictum!

A slow nod, and she flexes her fingers.

Most of her cantrips tend to be.... removed. Intellectual. Arcane.

But the arts that spawned them?

Not always so.

Unleashing can be dangerous, but the 'active cantrip' in this area might actually fuel it a bit.

Something for it to 'bounce' against
