"Is there some special Fae way of doing this?"

"Have you never named a dog before, Adam?" Sir Sergei seems.. surprised

"No, never had pets. When it was just mom and me we couldn't afford it and we were busy. And then .... well, we just never had pets."

The normally icy varich.. blinks, then says "Well...did you ever have a name you imagined using for a dog? "

"No. I mean, sometimes I thought about having a dog but I didn't, like, dwell on it. There's the names in books, I guess. Spot. Rex. Stuff like that."

"mmmshort names are often easier on dogs. Do you have a favorite athlete or fictional character you wish to homage perhaps?"

Adam scratches his head. "I guess.... I mean, Kobe? Or...." He looks at the dog again.

THe dog chases his tail

".... or dumbass...." he mutters.

"Dumas?" Sergei says. He hadn't heard that so he names the French Author as a guess

"Dumas?" Adam tries it.

"The man who wrote the Three Musketeers"

The dog looks up at that

"Three Musketeers is a good story. And Vince calls me D'Artagnan."

"Well, then, perhaps Vince is onto something. " A pondering "Of course, D'Artagnan's servant was called Planchet. Either that or Dumas might work quite well" Then a ..bit of a smile "of course, if you call him Dumas.. you may sometimes call him Dumb ass when he's less than obedient"

"Dumas?" he tries again.

The dog quirks and stares at Adam, attentive

"You want that to be your name? Dumas?"

The dog wags! And barks!

"Ok, well..... I guess that's it."

"Good. Take Dumas to your room. He's a pet, so that does mean perks. Tomorrow, they remove his testicles" Sir Sergie waves

Adam full-on winces at that. "Yes, Sir. Sorry, Dumas.... come on." and he leads the dog to the room he shares with Nab.

And full of trust, Dumas follows excitedly!

It's gonna be a great life, the dog realizes.. Nothing wrong willhappen from here on... well, best he doesn't know
