Adam did not expect to go book shopping.

Sir Bachdion however, brought him alone, so now , here they aree, wearing masks in Quebec. Adam is sorting through the English titles, and Sir Bachdion the French.

Did Sir Vali curse him somehow? Can't seem to get away from French

At least he doesn't have to try to read it.....

True.

Still he has a list of possible books. Some of them are romance novels.

How he feels about that is his biz

His interests are action, adventure, some romance, nothing scholarly.

The odd thing? Hardbacks are prefered. Classy stuff. Aparently Sir Bachdion is paying for it all.

He sees one book, not on the list, but it glistens in a way that makes his tummy tingle

Well, if there is a list then he will just look for those books. He frowns curiously at the shiny book. "Sir?" Quietly.

Bachdion looks over "mm? You say something, Adam?"

"Yes, Sir." He gestures to the tome.

He approaches, then pauses "oh... I see what you mean" He smiles and looks it over.

Adam watches respectfully.

And reads the title outloud, "The Heckronomicon"- Book of the darned"

"That sounds..... cool." He tries to peek.

A tiny voice speaks up squeeky "You are doomed, DOOMED... you will have to do chores again and again"

Yes, the book talks. At least ,chimerically

"Did you hear.....?"

"Yes.. threats and mean things.. just.. not really intimidating ones." The goat says

"You're going to get old and lose track of modern fashion!" It hisses at the satyr

"Hey!" Adam objects on his mentors behalf.

"Oh fate forefend, Miss Zara might just find you adorable," he checks the price. "It's okay, Adam. We'll buy it and see what she makes of it. If it opens a gate to heck we'll have an adventure closing it"

He brightens at that. "Oh! Ok. Want me to wrap it in something?"

"Oh this is pro store, they'll wrap it for us, but nice idea" He approves. "And right attitude"

"I meant to keep it quiet."

"Oh?"

"Well. Like you said. Mean."

"Only enchanted can hear it," he assures "if you're worried about the right of ignorance"

"I don't want it insulting you either."

"Ah, lad, you're kind. I'm okay. My people CAN be thin skinned but I'm all right really"

"If you're sure....." loyally.

Bachdion smiles "I'm sure."

"Ok."

"Later on, we may enchant the O Connels, but more on that later" he says "Suffice to say, want to be there if I do?"

"Uh. Well. What's the plan on that?"

"I was thinking of lending my place to them, gift of pan, enchantment... cdould lead to dancing"

"Just dancing, or the horizontal mambo?" with a grin.

"Well, that's up to the ladies... " A grin

"Wouldn't that be..... a little weird? I mean, would it?"

"oh very much so. But I like weird"

"What about, like you said, being careful about feelings?Imean, great sex is a stress relief, sure, and might help them, but would getting attached help? Or maybe worse, great sex and there's no attachment afterwards?"

"You're a good fellow to remember that. Yes, one must be careful. Come on, keep hunting for books. We'll talk about this in more detail later"

"Yes, Sir." and he obediently does.

That book is definitely the big find. But there are some others. One book, zara can't have, it's too new , it has a title Have Broom, Will Cackle.

"Huh." Adam glances it over, the back cover at least. Not really his style....

It's on the list..

Something familiar about the author's name but.. mm
