"Yes. I hate them, but I know how to use them" He takes it with, she notes, good balance and sense not to point it at anyone he doesn't intend to shoot.

"Good. Stand guard." She shifts her shoulder painfully, but goes to the elephant, careful. Putting Speaker back on her belt, she holds up both hands to try to indicate that she is harmless.

The elephant's trunk waves warningly.. but the pain in his eyes is almost ... human.

No pooka here... just they are remarkably intelligent.

She stops and tries something else instead, pressing her lips together and making an pale imitation of an elephant's trumpet, bunking for Willow Whisper.

This seems to calm it, a bit Just a bit

In the distance, the sound of a jeep driving off. The two who think they are dead wake slowly to find a strange man with a gun on them.

"Will you let me try to heal you?" Brekke murmurs to the elephant.

"If healing is all you try... you are friend?" It whispers back. a question for a question

"I am a helper. Not like those." She examines the wounds, trying to see how deeply the bullets are within.

Nasty, heather balm should pop them out though

And the other whisper is "Did the boy send you?"

"A boy? I have seen no boy. Hold still," she instructs, and she dabs a finger in some of her own blood on her arm, using her blood to paint a circle around each of the bullet wounds, gathering and focusing glamour.

"The boy the killers had. He tried to save me. He used the spirit like you do... I do not understand.. but I know spirit when I feel it rise thorugh the earth"

Brekke winces. "Did you see where this boy went?"

The heatherbalm eases the wounds, the bullets rise out of the skin and then exit. And the elephant looks startled, and grateful. IT rises , slowly, and then says "He was in the metal not-beast they ride"

She sighs. "Of course he was." She nods and pats the elephant's side. "I will try to help him," she says.

"Your spirit calling ends soon" The elephant whispers "I thank you. I did not wish to die far from the graveyard, my parts given to vanity and greed. If you seek the boy, perhaps you should question the ones you have taken prisoner." A look at the two prisoners "I would gladly crush their skulls. But.. they would learn nothing for their death. Their kind never does. They are not like you and I. They do not understand where the true riches of the world lay"

A bit of a grin and a nod. "Go safely." Bidding the elephant farewell, she joins Bachdion by the poachers. "They have a boy with them, in the vehicle," she says quietly to him before glaring down at the two. "Why are you out here? You said you did not seek ivory, there was some other purpose."

"Wait, you're no authority..." The man looks confused.

"Oh I don't know about that," Bachdion says "If she orders me to shoot you. I will. Do you respect THAT authority?"

The poacher (or whatever he is) winces "We're looking for treasure." True!

"And killing for sport was extra. I see. We need to find your partners and the boy traveling with you."

"Sport? Do you know how much ivory goes on the market? " A snort

Bachdion sets the gun closer to the side of the man's head "Why would having the boy help you find treasure? And WHAT treasure?"

"Military Coups and militas are a more modern treasure. Find out where they put their wealth, and you can do quite well" The man says "The boy had found some medals that belong to a long dead 'general'.. where he found it, that will lead us to their wealth."

"You are GRAVE ROBBING?!"

"Grave? More likely a burried safe they hoped to return to but never did.. the boy found it, if anyone is digging grave it is him, not that some old body would stop me from gettign wealth. WHy shouldn't I get mine?"

"It is not yours. Now. On your feet."

He and the other are gotten to their feet and taken prisoner, essentially

"Take us to where your partners are camped."

"It's miles from here" The man protests

Bachdion says "Just a good stretch of the legs"

And off they go

She sometimes asks them questions as they go, such as, "Are they this way?" and "Over that rise?" If there answers are not truthful, she stops them and questions again until she gets the right direction.

Soon she has the number of men! (4 more) Are they all armed (Yes, but some only have hand guns) Who is in charge? (A man named Conrad Sthank) How many exits into their buildling (2 if you don't count a window) Will they kill the boy (Not for a bit. First they wll torture him)

They also mutter that Brekke is a witch! How does she know when they lie and when they don't? They get a bit spooked for ALL new reasons. One crosses himself

As they walk, Brekke slows a bit so she is at the back of the group and stays behind Bachdion as she does a quick Heatherbalm on herself, hoping to get at least a bit of health back.

It does come back... the men spooked, but they don't see that. Bachdion asks her "how are we going to handle this? I figure a Passsage" He refers to the portal passage "But beyond that?"

She shakes her head. "I do not know who the authorities are here. But we must get the boy out. I suspect he is eshu."

"Right of rescue all the way in the Ivory Coast. " The old goat actually grins "My housemates will be jealous"

She looks slightly amused. "I can do something with the nature around the building, but it depends on what is there." Then to the captives, "What is around the building we are going to? Open land? Trees? Water?"

"More jungle, a slight clearing to park the vehicle, but the road is mostly over grown so we had to clear a part of it. Best to keep it hidden"

"Damn drones" Another says

"Drones?"

"Yes, drones are cheaper than soldiers so the authorities use it to try to catch poachers in the act. Or any other criminal"

"But the canopy of the forest buys us time"

"Mm." Brekke nods.

They move on.. and yes, a half hour later... they come to the road proper that was spoke of. Bachdion says "Shall I scout ahead? " Offering the gun "Or do you wish to? They're sure to have a look out"

"I can veil, I will go. Guard them, and keep them silent." She plucks a few leaves from nearby plants (thanking the plants as she does) and tucks them into her braid. It looks absurd at first...but soon it's harder to notice her. She take a bit of dross from her pouch and breaks it to support the cantrip.
