"Could be while, we got 4 other calls... course if you could just get a lift to a store that sells the part you need, but that's an hour on foot."

Frank gets directions and return to the cab, explaining to Siv. "Want to walk?"

"Yeah, sure..." She says "Stretch of the legs right? Sides, land's so flat what am I going to do? Stumble over my shoes? " A smile thne "Sorry she's having a bad spell dad" She pats the truck as they get out.

"She'll be ok. Kind of a surprise, though. PME should have caught that...." he grumbles to himself as they lock up and start down the road.

They walk for about ten minutes "At least we have the road mostly to ourselves, nobody going to run us over." she jokes.

She is not wrong, very light traffic for this particular stretch. But as he glances back, he notices a very old school rig approaching.

A frown, and he moves protectively around Siv.

"Dad...it's another trucker a knight of the road, like you?" Siv says

"Dunno." Watching like a hawk. "Pays to be careful."

"You didn't notice anyone fooling with the rig at our last stop, did you?"

"Nope..is that a thing?" She says surprised

" I mean, do people do that?"

"Not normally but...."

But better safe than sorry" She agrees.

There's a squeal of airbrakes, the truck is stopping.. takes a bit, but certainly close. No doubt it's stopping for them.

Frank puts Siv behind him.

"Dad..stop doing that." Siv fusses "I can take care of myself in a ..."

and a troll steps out of the rig

Frank frowns, watching.

"Hey folks, Name's Joe. " He's big, even for a troll. "You two aren't a sight I expected to see on the road. Need a lift?"

"Could use one to (parts supply)." He offers his hand. "Frank."

"Joe, Big Joe" He shakes the hand firm "I can get you there, sure."

Siv says "Hi, I'm Siv. His daughter." She is polite to the grump

He nods, and tips his trucker hat to her "Nice to meet you both. " He opens the hatch

Frank helps Siv in.

They drive, and Big Joe starts up , his vehicle holds like a beauty , but it's old, 70s classic in perfect shape "What has you heading west?"

"Picking up a return load from Cali."

"Good work if you can get it, hard for Independents now, believe you me" He says

"I am. Independent. Too."

Frank clarifies.

"Big corps can't own us all " A nod

And they drive

Siv sighs "So.. you and Da have been all over, is all the plains like Corn Corn and Corn?"

"Course not" He says "There's also Soy and Wheat" somberly

She groans

"Take a look out the window anyway, you might see something you'll want to know about" Big Joe says

Frank is quietly looking over the cab, professionally.

Yup, a classic and..

"Dad?" Da.." Siv pulls at his sleeve

"Yes?:

She gestures to the windows, and in the glass, like ghosts, are translucent images of people... each one in trouble.

Frank frowns, looking closer.

1) A brief flash of an boy in a hospital... and men stealing something...a cooler of medical type? the boy is in the hospital. They aren't, but the hospital logo is on what they're stealing. Wait, that's a california hospital

2) Another image, an attractive woman on top of a building's roof... people are pulling out smart phones, ready to watch her fall. Someone even yells "Jump" some boo, but others join in

3) An old man is pulled away by the police offciers from a house. Yelling something about how that's his home... "Not anymore" an officer says. The old man is pushed away. And...something in side his eyes threatens to snap. He goes to a warehouse, and finds a gun... and he looks in the direction of a bank, a bank that took his home of 50 plus years.

All three images play, others too, but those three main ones strongest. The more he stares, the more he knows names. Where they can be found.

And that he has time.

"What...." he stops, glancing at Joe.

"Pay it forward if you could, please? I can't ...not anymore" The troll pulls up in front of the shop with the part he needs "You can get someone to ride you out back for 20 bucks or less. Maybe for free. I have to keep going"

Siv says "But we saw.. in the windows, that wasn't crops"
