to Sylvi, being in Hackensack is a challenge, not that she doesn't like Hackensack, but home team advantage goes double when you're trying to get morale going. Most of the folks in the bleachers are definitely not for her high school.

That's a new experience. She's never really thought about it before, but it's been rare for her to be in a place where most people are opposing her, even passively. Being on the visiting team side is HARD she realizes.

Indeed, a few of the locals aren't just booing the visiting basketball team, they're boing the visiting cheerleaders

Sylvi considers this, then turns to the other girls. "Okay...we're not going to make any friends here tonight. We can't make them love us, so we've got to be impressive instead. Make sense?"

"I'm always impressive," Nadeen says//"Not what she means," Lucia says then a look to Sylvi "You think we should risk the harder moves?"

"Actually, Nadeen being impressive her way is probably going to help. The harder moves...." She thinks about it and sighs. "It's a risk. Could pay off big...or we go home with egg on our faces. What do you all think?"

Lucia looks nervous, and the other team hits their routines

Sylvi watches the other team, saying, "Okay...codes of hospitality. We be good guests -- give our all and recognize when they give their all, and what happens happens."

"But...we don't put up with crap if they serve it."

"We see you standing there, you don't know what to do! Too bad for you we're number one, so sad you're number twos, EWWW!" the enemy cheerleader squad says as they wiggle

"Crap just got served" One of the mortal cheerleaders observes

Sam GLARES at the enemy cheerleaders from her spot on the bench.

Sylvi's eyebrows go up. "Yeah...okay...chuck all that stuff I said before. We're gonna bring it."

Some in the crowd laugh and comments like 'got served' come up.

Sylvi's compatriots agree! 'So...the tough stuff, or what they do but one better?"

Sam had hoped to be off the bench, but with folks in good shape again, she's on the bench so far. So is Gonzalez, which is killing her. "I want out there so bad I can taste it"

"Plenty of games all season. It's the team that matters."

"I know you're right , you're right, but man... I bet the three of us could change this up. We're losing here"

Sylvi nods. "Let's do Be Afraid...on three....one-two-....

The cheer ends with a unison toe-touch split jump that's pretty damn impressive if all the girls hit it at once.

the squad hits it, though Luci almost didn't, overall it looks great!

And the other cheer squad is a little less smug

After that, Sylvi looks over to Sam on the bench and says, "Don't make liars out of us!" A wink.

A grin!

A grin at the other squad's expressions. "You know...best thing we can do right now? Work hard, but look like we're having the best time doing it. If they feel like they're having less fun than we are, it'll show. They'll look stressed."

Nadeen grins, "I like your machinations. Yes, let's..frolic"

"You talk weird lately, Tanya" One of the mortal girls says "But I get it."

Sam pauses as a new player is called for, not on their side, but on the opposing team, and a troll girl gets on the court!

And Sylvi sees her too. How can one not?

"Hey, check it out!" she says to the other fae cheerleaders, and a glance to Sam to make sure she sees, too.

Sam sees, and watches!

Beaming like she's having the best time ever, Sylvi cheers on the team with whoops and calls, while keeping an eye on the troll girl.

She wonders if Dagda applies o basktball...

the so far unnamed troll girl charges onto there with grim confidence

Sylvi has them start another one...

Get out of the way
We're Pascack High and we're here to say
If you wanna be the best
Better than the rest
You gotta work it, work it, work it!

A sassy hip shake on that last line.

Up in the stands, Kerri mutters to Olgar, "She's going to shake her butt right off."

Olgar sighs "Remember, you told me to remember our daughter's body is hers to use yadda yadda.. and to not kill the five boys in Row C that look ready to fall on their faces, right? I'm being good here"

"Yes, you are. Very good." She pats his hand.

At least Jaymes doesn't have that to worry about - heck, Dag got permission to wear a long-sleeved shirt under her tank.

The female troll is immovable, and between height, and strength, often just SNATCHES balls away passing them to her compatriots.

A scowl. That isn't fair!

Olgar then adds "of course, if they do fall, I'm gonna laugh. I'm nnot that good"

"I'd expect nothing less," Kerri assures him. "I'll probably join you."

Sylvi manages to keep herself from frowning at the opposing troll, smiling brightly moving with spring.

Coach Gray sighs "She's killing us." Then a look "Okay, she's fresh, let's see if we can wear her down with someone just as fresh. Who wants to go in?"

Sam's hand shoots up!

the other cheerlading team, looks irritated just a moment, why are the OTHER Cheereleaders os happy when their team is Losing?

So they begin to chant "Hey Cleopatra, we're coming at ya! This game's gonna take a while! Your team's a snore, just check the score! you must be Queen of Denial! Woot!"

Luci whispers "Darn..we should steal that one"

Gonzalez hand sticks up too
