At the King Cabin/House, a liege is happy to show her vassal newly on Alaskan ground around.

Brekke greets Dagmar with a pleased expression, the lines about her eyes crinkling. "It is not complete yet," she says as she indicates the house and property. "But it is getting there."

"It's.... something." Amber eyes taking in everything, mostly lots and lots of trees and sky - no sign of neighbors.

"Hmf." An amused sound. "Come, there is coffee inside." She leads Dagmar to the front door.

"...Cream and sugar?" A hopeful note. Dagmar has always liked hers sweet.

"Cream and sugar," Brekke confirms. "We do not have many guests, but the Hearth gave me good habits about being prepared."

"Chieftain Kerri is doing really good so far."

The front door is rough carved, still a work in progress that has been hung out of practicality. Within, the living room has exposed beams, and again, the beginnings of Brekke's carving style are evident here and there.

One might notice a few gifts from loved ones in places of honor

Calloused fingertips lightly brush across a bit of rough-out.

Absolutely, there are some pieces of art and craft work from various people. The room is clean and neat, but still has a comfortable amount of attractive clutter.

There's a prominent fireplace and stone chimney.

Ivan and Signe, the dogs that came with, let loose happy wags as they recognize Dagmar!

"Got a whole care package for you two. It's mostly food, surprising noone."

"I will be back with the coffee. Please...be comfortable."

"Right." She perches on the edge of a seat.

Ivan rolls over on his back for belly rubs, abandoning dignity. His daughter looks slightly embarrassed.

Brekke glances back at the kitchen door. "Comfortable, Dagmar," she reminds with a bit of a grin.

"Oh, I see." Solemnly. But a small quirk of a smile as she rubs the offered belly. "Yes, Chief!"

Brekke nods and vanishes into the kitchen.

Wriggling commences... Ivan's fur has gotten thicker up in the north

"Edie's doing good at home, too."

THat makes hboth dogs perk at the name

"Taking care of Gerd, of course."

Brekke returns soon, carrying two earthenware mugs. "Cream and sugar," she confirms, handing Dagmar hers.

She takes the mug, her smile more substantial than just a quirk. "Thanks."

There is no balefire here, obviously, but the warmth of the place, the personal touches, mean it is anything but banal.

Brekke takes a sip of her coffee and settles into a chair that already has the potentiality to be well-worn. "Ahh. Now...you say the Chieftain is doing well?"

She nods. "It's... different. But I mean, it's Kerri. She was always gonna be the best choice."

An interested raise of the brows. And a sip. "You feel so?"

The boon almost always ongoing, Gwydion conversations between each other can be interesting

"Kerri's tough." She shrugs. "Stubborn. She might be really, really good at having a soft touch and an open shoulder and a ready ear, but she's an oak tree."

"That is good. She will need that. I hope that, if you see her becoming too gentle in her urge to nurture, you will remind her of that toughness."

"After you left, some folks thought they could push her around because she wasn't a 'warrior." Dagmar snorts.

Signe grrrs at that as if understanding the insult

"Not people living within Rivervale," Brekke says with concern.

She wavers her hand.

"Softer testing, there. Biggest issues have been from outside, seeing if Rivervale is weak or less defended. They learned pretty quick that that was a dumbass assumption."

"Hm." Concern, yes, but reassured. "And what of you?"

"Have they tested you as well?"

"Well." Brow furrow.

"I think this is it?"

"I'm not... Starbear and home have strong ties, and you're here. So this one might be... uh. Training wheels?"

"Well...as I see it, this is less a test than it is training. Practice."

She nods, absently chewing on a hangnail.

"What worries you?"

"I'll be caught up in Emissary stuff soon enough. Ann-Marie did make up this fancy tabard to wear over my armor with the Lodge's heraldry on it."

"I'm not worried." (ping)

That very familiar brow is aimed at her.

She sighs.
