"No no, busy times. I'm in demand" Gerd says "And I'm gonna brag a little on that. Ever, it was nice meeting you. Don't worry, between Sam and Anne Marie, you're covered. I hope shit for brains rots in jail until he's gray"

"Thanks, Gerd" Ever smiles "For everything.. but the chicken too"

"You're welcome" Gerd says wiping her fingers with a napkin. For a moment she takes a deep slow breath

Then Gerd smiles, as if she just won a battle axe fight

"Yep. Later Sam, later Ever!" Gerd grabs her coat "Stay in touch"

And out she goes

When Ever falls asleep, she falls asleep HARD, finally safe, finally free. And her dreams are of good things... oddly, at least one of them involves a towering lady knight
