The police car pulls up and two officers pull out, see Conrad trying to get down the roof with keys in hand, and say "Hold it right there"

"I just hope the cops don't try to let this slide" Ever mutters

Sam can't help it - she does tense up.

"Anne-Marie won't let that happen." Total faith and confidence.

"I won't either" The professor says and moves forward "Officers, I'm Professor Shana Garb of Rutgers. THat man is the kidnapper of this young woman, holding her illegally in an attempt to 'deprogram her' on basis of sexual orientation. Further, I saw him assault a young woman before my eyes and have footage of same"

Oh thank god, the Doc is talking to the cops.

The cops might be dubious about LGTBT rights, but when given an eyewitness and firm talk they nod as the adult who is here looks like the sort to make a stink if they don't treat this VERY seriously

Ever blinks "The professor's kind of cool too" She admits

"Yeah, Doc's okay. "

Soon, Conrad is in cuffs

And a vehicle pulls up.. and out of it step Gerd and ... Anne Marie!

Anne Marie comes towards Dagmar "Sam, dear. Are you okay?" SHe looks to the cops "ANd who is bossing around the fellows in blue?" A bit of a smile "Normally that's my task"

"I'm fine. Anne-Marie, this is Ever. She's... there's a lot."

"Long story made short, lesbian, parents tried to 'fix me' hired that guy.. I ... I lost my birthday trapped in that basement.. it's no big deal I mean, I'm free and..."

Anne Marie hugs the girl "Oh darling, we'll never really know, will we? I'm sorry for thaT. But you have help, and we won't betray you. It's safe now. It will be safe. I will make it so with my barehands if I have to"

And totally caught off guard... Ever.. crumples, hugging the shorter woman back and letting tears flow anew

"Shit" Ever muffles into Anne Marie's shoulder

"I know, I know, i cheated by caring" Anne Marie pats "But I DO care. So does Sam. You are cared for as you are, not as folks WANT you to be. Don't doubt that despite the lies that man forced on you"

"Told you Anne-Marie was awesome." A little shrug.

"Professor, we appreciate you, we do, but this is a matter for legal authorites "One cop has found his footing

"Pardon me, Ever. " A pat "But may I leave you for a bit to go remind the police officers of a few things and how they WILL go down?"

"You're really gonna order the cops?" Ever looks surprised

"Young lady, I don't order anyone" she assures "I just point out how things will be so much better for us all if they do things MY way. Also, the young professor might need back up"

Ever smiles a bit "Thanks and.. sure? You'll be back?"

"We're not leaving you."

"Thanks for getting her here so quickly, Gerd."

"I don't desert good folks in need" Anne Marie asserts, and for a moment, the silver tree in her volile shines BRIGHT "And you're good folk. " A look "He took out your nose ring?"

"Yeah I .. oh yes" SHe says

"I'll make sure you either get your old ones back or a new one" Anne Marie says, and then says "OFFICIERS, how NICE To meet you. I am Anne Marie Lee, Social worker for..." She turns on the cops and it's much like a female elephant about to teach lion cubs to behave at the watering hole

Gerd replies "No worries. I've been asked for less important reasons" A whispered response

THen Gerd says "Nice to meet you... I'm Gerd." She holds out a hand

"Ever" Ever shakes it, "Go on, Anne Marie. You go get em"

Anne Marie winks and continues to do just that

Like a tag team partner in wrestling who needed a break, the Doctor rejoins Dagmar "OOo stubborn. Best I leave the rest to the pros"

"I figured this was worth calling in the big guns."

"You can stay at our apartment tonight -we don't have a spare bed, but the couch sleeps good."

Ever nods "Okay, bit old for me to be adopted" Wryly watching Anne Marie working, then she brightens aT the offer from Sam "You.. sure? I don't want to be in the way"

"She's sure" Gerd says "They actually live near a place that isn't bad for chicken wings too. I bet you're hungry"

She shrugs. "Different kinds of adoption, y'know. But yeah, you don't need a legal guardian."

"They sure as fuck don't get any say in your life anymore."

"Damned straight" Ever nods "And thanks. I'll take you up on the night stay."

"And... that chicken?"

Gerd smiles "I'll buy for you guys. I have some spare cash"
