The door opens, and a surly looking man comes out "Yeah?"

"Hello, I'm professor Shana Garb, and I'm with Rutgers college? " She reaches into her purse and pulls out a paper "The college is working hand in hand with the American Veteran Assistance Scholarship program. Retired Service members getting new chances at further education. You know you're never too old to learn, are you yourself a former member of our armed forces?"

She lures him out further as they talk

Dagmar lurks and waits

She seems to get a bead on the man, he begins to grumble "Well, glad this isn't some LGBTQ whatever thing getting the money AGAIN. Real Americans, we get ignored"

Shana may not be an 'actress' but education has trained her in ways to interest a student

A brief grimace.

"The Vanishing soldier syndrome, we just want them to 'fade away' .. I see your flag is on top of your house and higher than anything else. Not everyone follows proper flag decorum"

"From here it looks good..." She leads him out further

And the front door is open, the man's back to it from more than ten feet away

Well, this loudmouth is no slueth, so she slips past him even he talks about "Was a time the stars and stripes were above EVERYTHING, sure as hell 'rainbows'"

And so Dagmar gets in

The house is ... as ugly in decor within as it is outside

Tan rugs , wallpaper slap dashed done. There are steps going up, but she remembers the chimera said 'below'

Pretty sure the blowhard outside isn't the Dreamer...

Basement door is usually in or near the kitchen, so...

And so, the door in the kitchen is found, and she goes down. The stairs creek with every footfall

There's a smell here Dagmar doesn't like. Like, pharmaceuticals and wire

A small frown starts

As she comes to the basement floor, she has a thin source of light around the walled off... hey, someone put up some kind of crappy dry wall here.. it has an opening but it is clear someone didn't want you to see anything until you got down

She hears music playing, leaking out of headsets? The Ten Commandments on repeat

Her jaw sets.

and Dagmar sees in the basement, a young woman, about her age. She is strapped down into a chair, so she can't move her legs, or her arms. The IV in her arms, well, it is unsure what's in the chemical concoction, but it isn't wanted. The woman has a dress, looks like the sort of thing one would expect in something out Little House on the Prarie but not as colorful. Her hair.. that's not her hair.. her hair is short, but someone has put a wig over it. Something more 'traditionally feminine' rather than the short cut with traces of dye nearly scrubbed out. Before her, a TV shows images, WHOLE SOME images, of families, of girls being girls, boys being boys, fathers being wise, and mothers caring and nutuiring...

and the girl can't look away, for her head is locked by some kind of brace!

And earplugs pump and recycle 'honor thy father and mother' most of all, but all the commandments get time, again, and again, and again.

The nose of the girl shows signs of a closed up nose ring hole. Her ears are similar

This looks like some twisted True Crime shit!

Despite the bubbling righteous anger, she takes out her phone and starts snapping pictures.

The girl has not been driven banal yet, but her dreams and nightmares are melding and shifting back and forth. How can one hope when despair or surrender is the only option? How can one know joy when fear is constant, beating down? There are only a few chimera here... ones she's trying to dream, but old dreams are now reflecting new torment. What should have been a sweet rainbow colored tabby chimera looks sickly with mange and parasites, and the parasites whisper to the cat about how it should 'behave like a real cat, not a lesbian cat'

Of course the pictures don't record that. But they do get a picture of the book on the corner... 'Deprogramming: A begininer's guide'

Pictures of everything - the girl may or may not be aware of Sam's presence yet.

NOt.. yet. The tears come out of the Dreamer's eyes. She has nice eyes. Nothing fake or FORCED about them

And.... that done, yes, okay. Books, tv, restraints, drywall, everything...

FIRST she pulls the IV.

"Honor thy father and mother, so that thy days may be long on..." Can be heard clearly as the IV is pulled out. The dreamer can't turn her head, but FEELS that

"Are we .. moving? let me go you bastard"

Next are the restraints. She does not care if she breaks them.

She seeems to resent that he's ssucceeded in making her cry

"I'm getting you the fuck out of here, whoever you are."

The restraints are solid, good quality, hard to break: they don't have a chance as Dagmar opens them, or BREAKS them as required!

The wig is pulled off in the process and hurled to the floor.

The girl's hands , now free, go to her ears and rips off the device 'speaking to her' "Oh thank fuck! THANK YOU... do you.. do you have a gun? I may KILL that son of a bitch!"
