That gets a smile.

She moves about easily "Okay, teasing aside, the guy did a lot. Diplomat, Bureaucrat, soldier..astronomer , philosopher... we're talking about a man with a lot of peeks into various strata of the society he lived in"

A soft mutter to herself. "I will eviscerate you in fiction. Every pimple, every character flaw. I was naked for a day; you will be naked for eternity."

The professor has good ears, but does NOT name names "Okay, at least one of you, and I think I'm hearing more than one, have seen the movie 'A Knight's tale' which has Chaucer as character in one of my favorite examples of what I can historical fan fic. First, you will find a few differences in the movie with the book that inspired it, a lot actually. Secondly, you have GREAT taste in movies"

Another smile. Maybe this class will be okay?

She sees another girl blushing, then smiling at the praise. Looks like she found the other fan of the movie

Dagmar chews on her lip. Maybe... maybe after class? She tries catching the other girl's eye and sharing a quick thumbs-up.

The girl blushes less at TWICE approval, and gives a thumbs up back

The professor goes on "Now the good news, while A Knight's Tale is in Middle English, that's right, Chaucer snubbed Latin, the rebel... we have transcribed copies. Now I want you to read both, but go ahead and read them in either order, it's a wild ride English."

And the class goes on, a gentle approach to literature, not considering the material SACRED, but yet loving it, and hoping to share some of that love

A lot of the Canterbury Tales speak to old memories - or even aspects of current Changeling life. Sam enjoys the topic more than anticipated!

Indeed, and she sees why Chaucer's mixing with various levels of his society paid off for him like the professor suggested. And yes, odd stirrings of old memories, and maybe current friends. When it ends, speaking of friends, she sees that girl getting her stuff to go

She starts, and then hesitates... winding up kind of looming nearby.

The girl looks up, and up "You're tall" then she blushes "I'm so sorry, that was rude, and obvious- mostly rude. Hi?"

Blush!

"Well, I am am. Yeah. Um. Hi."

She abruptly sticks out a hand. "I'm Sam."

"Chelsea" She shakes the hand, then says with a smile "All human activity lies within the artist's scope. "

Clearly checking to see if she knows the responding line or if that was a fluke

"Maybe not yours..."

"Kidding!" Quick and apologetic.

A laugh "No that's the line.. I Promise not to fong you" Hand up as if taking a pledge

Another quick flash of a smile.

"oh my gosh, I Love that movie SO much. I get it it's not historically accurate, but you know, jousting really was THE BIG GAME ,so if they had something like the wave, they totally used it"

"It was a lot of fun."

A pause. "I've jousted. I have horse-friends, so we tried it."

Chelsea gushes a bit happy to have someone else in on it "Got a favorite character?"

"Wait, what? You've ACTUALLY Jousted?"

"Oh, probably Chaucer. Or the Prince. Or the Blacksmith..."

"I mean, for fun?"

"It's not like you can go around being a professional jouster."

"A pity huh? I mean, maybe at some Casinos ... and I can't pick my favorite either. I've got SUCH a girl crush on Katherine but if I had a prince like THAT Prince... yes, your highness"

"Right - I've heard of those restaurants with the jousting. They sound fun. And ren faires!"

"I've been to one, I guess you have to if you've jousted for real. I mean, it was fun. I had this dress with a kirtle?"

"Nice!"

"if they do a joust thing around here, please put me in the loop I wouldn't say I'm a die hard medevilast but I do like it layman style"

"Maybe they'd do something for homecoming. Homecoming is always crazy busy in the movies..."

"I get the feeling it's not exactly gonna be like Hollywood around here, which might be good because less hazing that way? "

Chelsea asks "Oh, Uhm, do you have a major picked out? I.. am .. hovering" An admission

"Um. I'm undecided, too. So all gen-eds this semester."

"okay, I'm sorry for using you like this, but I am SO glad I'm not alone in this" Relief

"Using me? How?"

"I mean you going Gen-ed like me. I'm totally going to point out others.. you.. did it too"

"I'm getting pressure from mom and dad"
