A look from Klump to Olgar "Where do I get one of these Hippos? I have seen her stare at video footage of a small one, and I know she likes animals"

"First, Klump, usually you don't want them to know about your gift plans until it's the day of the birthday. Next... it is a bit cold for a hippo in this area."

"Oh," he says

"mm " Klump accepts this, "Are wooly mammoths still about?"

"Chimerically I'm sure" Olgar states.

"Good." Klump nods and goes back to sitting on the bench quietly.

Brow!?

Olgar mphs ("I think he's getting you a wooly mammoth for your birthday. Don't ask me, Glomes are odd")

"I don't need anything for my birthday, Klump. I don't think I can keep another pet in the apartment."

"OH" Klump mmms "Some thing small or not at all then?"

"I don't need gifts, but like... like, yeah, I would like whatever you wanted to share. Just, like..." A helpless little gesture. "It doesn't need to be some gran thing for me to value it."

"mmm" The glome nods "It is the thought behind the gift that counts, or so I hear"

"Sentimentality is under rated" Olgar agrees, then looks to Dagmar "How's Rutgers, during the week. That place you got have furniture already?"

"Oh, yeah. The same furniture it's had for thirty years, probably."

"Oh, Symon probably likes that" Olgar observes "Sterotype, but as a rule, sluagh like old things. Let us know if you need or want some newer furniture from the lake house"

"I... oh.. I should check with my parents? Dad might not actually ask, but... but if it seemed like he was doing you a favor, taking it..."

"You're a class act, kiddo," Olgar means it, "And we are clearing somethings out so some furniture is going to the roadside if no one else wants it. So yeah, anyone taking some might do us a favor"

She nods.

"Anyway, we'll get some Rivervale foam fingers for the events. You'll see a few waving in the air when you joust" He nods "I got to patrol a bit. "

"Oh, for the love of..." She laughs.

"Okay Olgar. I'm gonna tend the horses."

"Good idea" He says "Ylva's taken a liking to them and is happy to help if you want " HE nodss "Later, KLump. No hippos, okay?"

"Small things" Klump assures and also rises

"Oh, I'll show her the ropes for sure."

"And small things, yes."

And with that, Storm Olgar grunts ("Thanks") and moves on to patrol. Klump walks with Dagmar just a bit. The Glome says "I too will cheer you when you joust, Little Thunder. I shall wear the foam finger of allyship proudly. Be well"

"Thanks, Klump. You too!"

And Klump thumps off

The horses are happy to see her, though.. they're not alone. Ylva is tending to them, offering a carrot to Stormwake. She has made a mistake, forgetting to get one for Star, who is now annoyed

"Star, no," Ylva says "Stormwake gets a treat since he will have to go to Alaska when Baroness Brekke and Sir Frank get a stable"

Dagmar tenses, hands curling into fists. Oh.

Star looks IRKED at this, and perhaps for more than one reason. It's easier to be annoyed than sad sometimes so she makes a protest sound.

Stormwake starts to chew his carrot, then, he instead offers the other half of it to Star, who takes it

"Well, okay then I..." A look over and up "Oh, Dame Dagmar. They've been fed, but Star seems awfully fussy for some reason"

"I.. have to go."

And the wilder turns on her heel and flees.

"Okay..." Ylva wonders what IS it with old people like Siv and Dagmar?

As for Dagmar, where a falcon flies is her choice. Perhaps to the arms of a loving shadow who cares for her very much. Perhaps to a mother who might whisper assurances she needs. Perhaps to seek the wisdom of Odin! But ... it's not really for most to know. Her pain is a very personal thing.
