She says "Let me mount. Got to get the proper side to be a habbit. "

She nods. "Okay... so one hand on the horn... one foot...you're gonna use my hands as a step, okay?" Talking her through it, while crouching down with her hands laced together at just the right height.

Hand on horn, "Ready" She lifts her foot ,and then... well Ylva is a tall girl, and athleticc, and more importantly heeding instruction

And soon she's mounted and grinning

"There we go!" She takes Star's reins, leading the pair out to the arena.

"Keep your heels down, and your elbows tucked in. Feel how she sways a bit? Try and move with her."

"Okay" A wider grin still "Heels down, elbows tucked... annd yes, it's like being on a living wave . "

Dagmar starts by leading Star in a circle around the arena, slowly speeding the mare's pace.

Ylva tries not to lose positioning, which is hard beccause she WANTS to whoop

"Okay - gonna give you the reins. Be gentle, you don't need to tug her head around. Just touch the rein to the side of her neck, and press your knee a little - don't kick. Star's a smart cookie, she's a fae horse."

"Okay. " A bit nervous now but gonna give it a go

A private reassuring word to Star, and she lets the girl go - trusting the mare to pace it well.

She's almost TOO gentle, but Star , being a fae steed is smart enough to adapt "oh sorry, Star" And touches the rein to the neck and pushes a BIT more but ddoes not kick. Star has it covered and picks up speed rather than lag.... trying to show she's not a fragile thing but appreciating the girl's concern

"There we go!"

New rider and profesional steed sync up as the latter t rains the former. Of course, Dagmar helps "Woot!"

The wilder quietly grins.

The childling is heaven. Dagmar remembers what it was like to ride for the first time. Ha! Siv is going to feel competitive and try to get Ylva to become a sailor raather than a horsewoman, but that's gonna be so much harder now that Ylva has a taste for it

"Oh I gettihng you an apple after this!"

A chuckle. "Bribery goes far."

Indeed, Star's gonna hold her to that

She lets Ylva get a good few rounds. "Okay. Good job. Now, to stop - say 'woah' while pulling back on both reins..."

"Whoah" She pulls back on bboth reins

Star stops, pretty as a picture. "Alright, how are you feeling, kid?"

"that was AMAZZINNG!"

"Good." She offers a hand down.

She takes it "Thank you .Sshe's wondeful.. oh and I owe her an apple"

"Yup, but, now that you've ridden, you have to take care of her first." Passing the reins back to Ylva. "Lead her to the stable, and we'll go through it together, okay?"

"Oh!" She nods "I will" And she does just that

Dagmar patiently shows Ylva how to strip and tend the tack, how to brush away the sweat, and yes, where the apples live.

It's all done under Dagmar's watchful guidance, and yes, the apple is given up with gratiutude "Thank you , Star, for sharing your speed"

Dagmar can tell Star LIKES this girl

And... she might also consider sharing what she has learned of the sidhe hold Ylva is from. Kerri or Brekke might want to know

But that can wait, for now
