Ylva feeds the horses

"You're all very lovely" She says as she works

Star strreeeeettttttccchhhheeesssssssssss, lipping at the air. Ylva has food!

"Just oats" She answers "Squire Valter said we mustn't give too many treats" Then she adds "But they're SWEET oats...technically legal, right?"

A greedy whicker.

A wink then she says "I love this place has so many animals ...Maybe I can get a cat of my own?

She smiles

The mare nudges at Ylva's shoulder with her nose.

Sweet oats!

"Right right" She moves happily and portions some out "I used to get so jealous of the sidhe who got be near the stables"

Her ears flick forward, like a sympathetic listener.

""see, commor kith were for support. Not the heroes," A scowl "Which is so.. wrong you know? There were brave pooka, bold boggans and even hero redcaps. So when I heard about a TROLL Lodge? Oh I had to get out of there and overhere"

"You want heroes, not a bad place to find'm." A grunt from behind her.

She jumps a bit, and then she looks embarrassed that she jumped at all "Pardon,, didn't see you there" She looks to the voice

The tall figure unfolds her arms - Ylva hasn't met Dagmar yet, but she cuts an imposing figure in green and gold.

"Well, I snuck in. You taking good care of'm?"

"That one is shameless. She'll beg for treats all day."

"Oh...." She looks chagrinned "I might be a soft touch. Yes. Im Ylva.Your horses are lovely"

"Star's mine. Stormwake is Chief's, Spark is Connor's - he's - they're both at Silver Wolf right now, which, really, probably for the best while they're each figuring out how riding works."

"Begging your pardon, would you be Dame Dagmar? The Hearth mentioned you"

A nod. "Yeah, I'm Dagmar. And you, kid?" She offers out a hand.

"Just Ylva" She takes the hand and tries to give a firm but not pushy grip. Sides, Dagmar looks liike a giant among giants to this childling

"Nice to meet you, Ylva. Now, have you gotten to ride yet?"

"No? I mean, I can get riding lessons here?"

A crooked grin.

"C'mon. It's still light out." She snags Star's saddle from its hook.

She perks up

"Thank you so MUCH"

"Now, learning... mm, I might talk to the Farm about that. Have you been to the Farm?"

Star dances a bit, knowing what the saddle and bridle imply.

"i don't think so."

"The Farm is full of friends. It's another lodge. They have more horses than we do. Stormwake is not really a beginner's horse, but I bet you'd get along just fine with Cobbler or Blueberry."

"Heh... Cobbler and Blueberry. They sound friendly:" SHe says "I'd be honored to visit them,, though I hope to prove myself here."

"Oh, visiting there is just that. Well, unless things get rough at school here - the DeBukes run a school for fae kids, since it can be tough to handle a mortal school, sometimes. So if you need that, you might wind up going back and forth." Buckling and adjusting various straps.

"Well, I'll pull my weight . I don't want freebies"

She walks next to Star

Grunt, nodding. ("I get that")

That gets a surprised look "...did you just say somethiing? It feels like you did"

An easy nod. ("You'll get it.")

"We weren't allowed 'grunt talk' where I was last at. The nobles said was uncivilizd and rude" A frown "I think mostly they just didn't want to admit they could get the handle on it. So I never was really allowed to learn."

A grunt, making her opinions of that prohibition clear.

She gives a snort. Rough, but yes ("Jackasses") came out

And with a soft touch on the child's jaw, Dagmar directs Ylva's gaze as the wilder checks the girth-strap by sliding two fingers between it and Star's flank, and then a similar check on the bridle.

Ylva is ALL focus now, attentive and focused

A brow, confirming. ("You got this?")

She repeats the motions "Girthstrap check..two fingers between it and flankk and check the Briddle .Don't want it too tight OR too loose"

"Too tight, it'll hurt them. Too loose, it'll hurt you."

She nods "I never want to hurt a horse. If they lift us up, the least we can do is treat them kindly. Also I don't have dictum to use on the horses so I need to learn it right. Thank you for this"
