Siv is all ears, listening, and nodding at key points "Oh, he's doing gothic romance covers now? GOOD. I mean, horror has it's place but he's so much more varied than that"

"Meaning no desrespect to Earl, but he does not always bargain as hard for his work as he should" Siv nods

Then she sighs "Couldn't use them...turns out they don't actually shield versus heat well" then realizing she's insulting the work of someone dear to Zara "But they're gorgeous"

Something sounds wrong about that. Miriam's work might have flaws, but failing the main mission of the design? Unlikely

"That... Siv, that doesn't sound right."

"Nocker work has quirks, but she would not sell something which malfunctioned."

"Well, maybe I damaged them?" Siv says "Hold on a sec. I think they're here in fact." She rises and sorts through something then pulls out two very fancily patterned Kitchen gloves. It sure LOOKS like Miriam's style, but something is off

Zara takes them, carefully inspecting them

If she weren't a sluagh, AND the daughter of the woman in question, Zara would believe these were Miriam's make. But the maker's mark is.. off, every so slightly. These are COUNTERFEIT!

"What scheister did you meet!?"

"These are not Miriam's."

"Scheis..." She blinks "Sorry, I don't know what that is?" Then "They're not?'

"A villain! A scoundrel! A conman!"

"Oh wow," Siv says then assures "I really did think it was legit. I purchased them at Pennons here. I bought a lot of things, but from that guy just the gloves."

Jonas arches a brow "isn't maker's mark infringement a big crime with the Bes dan or whatever it is?"

"Bes Din" Siv says "And yes, it's huge."

"Aye. One fucketh not with the Bes Din."

"Wow. you don't use that word often" Siv nods "Ah, I don't remember his name but I can get the records of Pennon vendors if you like?"

"Why not just report them to Count hemlock?" Jonas asks

Siv sighs as if embarrassed, and apologizes to Zara "I love him, but sometimes he doesn't understand adventures and personal matters of payback"

"Tis a matter of honor, nu?"

"ANy information you can divulge would be appreciated. I can work to get you recompense."

"No recompense needed" Siv waves it off, "I'm a victim of this con too, and want to see this man get his. Was a man by the way, and a nocker. Not too disttinctive a swirl pattern. If I can help you more than just the intell, let me know. I feel bad for inadvertantly helping tarnish Miriam's good name by thinking these rip offs were hers"
