And Olgar slides into the kitchen to get a beer "Well, it's official, my daughter's pissed at me"

Kerri is sliding another batch of healing cookies into the oven, and she might look just a little bit drained. "What happened?"

"Not sure" He says and ..relates everything though not mentioning the crystal ball's convo detail about past rescues, adding "And of course I had to get Jordan, and suddnely she's not trusting my call?"

She looks at him, a bit wearily. "So, she can't contact her boyfriend in a crisis situation, and you're surprised she's a bit stressed?"

"Well, ah... " A pause "I mean, I knew she wasn't HAPPY about it, but the guy's a storm. And also I'm a ROver, Jordan was in the dreaming"

She wipes her hands clean on a dishrag. "Yes, you're a Rover. If you think your family never gets worried about you when you're out there, you're wrong. And you had a duty, and you did what you felt you needed to do, based on your experience. Nothing wrong with that. But don't expect that others are always going to be happy about it."

"I thought you got used to her being mad at you years ago. Or was that just me?"

"I think for a little while you got the brunt of it and I was just nicked in the blast zone of her ire" He smiles "Maybe I've gotten soft, not used to being target A." A shake of his head "Well I don't know what ot say to her. I'm sorry doesn't fit, because I'm not really. I understand her pain? Lame. " A look at his wife "Ah, about that... worrying you stuff"

"For her, it's probably just going to be a matter of getting past the crisis for her to get past the anger." At his last comment, she raises her brows. "Hmm?"

"Well, I'm sure he's all right. He better be. He breaks my daughter's heart in this life I'm gonna hold a grudge on him to the next" Then more somberly "Babe. I know I told you I was staying closer to home, shorter patrols, and the like"

She takes a slow, deep inhale and lets it out just as slowly. "There's work to be done. It's big work, and it's not close by. And it's dangerous...but it's necessary. Yep, I've sort of been expecting that this is going to draw you back out into the deep end of it."

"Like every crappily written retired spy or agent plot ever" he nods "Willows needs help for a bit. Mountain even asked me if I'd drop by Charm."

"Charm? Well...I'll make sure to thank the Mountain for asking you to do that." She turns away to check the cookies in the oven.

"You how he is about his Auntie Thea. I'm down in Willows anyway so.. not a big thing to make that a stop point. "

"No, no, of course. I get it."

He wonders if his wife is hiding an expression with that cookie check. Best not to pry too much

"Anyway, I feel like a jerk after all my 'home more often talk' to have this reversal. I'll make it up to you. Maybe we'll paint the town red on Labor Day?"

"Just...." She pauses, and takes the cookies out of the oven. She resumes as she moves the cookies to the cooling rack, "Just come back in as close to one piece as possible, preferably breathing, too." Pause. "When do you go?"

"That's partly up to you. I can hold off for a day or three yet, but obviously they're hoping I help out soon as possible. "

"No, you should go as soon as you can. I just want to make sure I have time to package up a tin of these to take with you," she says, indicating the cookies.

"Thanks, babe. Dinner tonight then. " A frown "WIsh I could set things straight or at least on better terms with Sylvi first. "

She sets the cookie tray aside to be washed. "Well....I'll let her know when she comes back that you were concerned about it. She'll vent to me, and...it'll be all done with by the time you get back."

"That's a lot of unfair emotional work on your shoulders when you do enough as is" He tells her, and moves to her side "here, let 'me help clean up. Least I can do." A look at her intense "Best thing the Da'an ever did for me was have me meet you. I'll remember that no matter how deep into the silver I go. You can bet that."

And he kisses her lightly, and gets to work cleaning by her side

Well, it might have been intended as a light kiss, but she doesn't leave it at that, deepening the kiss suddenly and holding him close.

Well, maybe the cleaning will be a bit late

Piper frowns at Vali. "What do you mean I can't go to Willows? I mean, yes, I heard about the Trod snafu, but I thought that Sylvi's pops fixed it?"

"Willows could be a damned mess" Vali says "We got just a fraction of the blow out. It's much worse down there. "

Piper POUTS. She isn't doing it on purpose, but she can't help it. "But I finally found... I mean, there's someone there I need to meet!"

"I'm a teacher, a father, and a husband. You have no idea how little pouts work on me now" He says deadpan "Call who ever it is and tell them you can't make it. Or email"

"I'm sure they'll understand' He adds

"I don't know how to contact them! If I did, then I wouldn't need to go meet them... But, Dagmar said she'd go with me, isn't that protection enough?"

"Dagmar?" he stops "Damn. She IS one of our best warriors" He admits

Then, a touch of guilt. "...which means I probably shouldn't be taking her away from here at a time when things are all crazy, right."

Vali tilts his head, then says "Actually, WE are doing much better than most other areas thanks to her already, and thanks to Olgar. I'm the Mountain, I only get part of the 'vote' around here, but if you and she want to go. I'll vouch for you. Only problem is... I don't think the trods are wise to use. How do you feel about flying with her in Economy?"

A pause "other option is.. no nevermind I can't speak for him"

"What? Whaaaat,m c'mon, you can't leave me hanging like that."

"Rover Olgar is going out tonight, as far as Maryland. If anyone could escort you safetly on trods into that storm, it would be HIM. Guy's a master of dream craft"

"Tonight? She squeaks. "That's... that's so SOON. I mean, that's great... oh, what will I wear?"

"If I say clothes, you're going to switch that pout itno a glare aren't you?" He says

"look you need to ask Olgar if he's willing to guide you and Dagmar and whoever" He says

Then a thought "Wait, Siv's not going with you? Can't her ship just get you there in a snap?" Siv, sadly, got yanked away for a mission at ER thinmking Piper wasn't going this soon

"No, um. Well, I wasn't ready for Siv to meet him."

"It's a new relationship, you see, or at least, I hope it will be."

A brow lift

"What?"

"A lot of folk around here have unconventional families. Just because you're nuclear, doesn't mean you get to judge!"

"Family" He says surprised all over again "I.. may owe you an apology, but not for that. Sorry, for a moment I thought the meeting was romantic"
