Dagmar wakes to hear Jerant whimpering in his sleep. The guys a grown wilder.

Yet he's also a satyr, and his fears and loss hit him hard , particularly in his dreams

"No.. no, Sheera hold on..."

Grunt. Frown.

She reaches out to touch his shoulder. "Hey."

He wakes with a start "It's all unraveling" A blink then he looks about "Where.. "

"RIvervale. New Jersey. You're safe."

"Oh yes, thank you I.." He looks up "Wow this lodge is huge. I mean, the ceiling looks a mile away"

"Trolls are tall. We need headroom."

"The right cars must be a bitch" Jerant says, then adds "I'm sorry if I woke you. I think I'm a mess, but you guys shouldn't have to be the one to clean it up"

She shrugs. "Duty and honor."

"Satyrs are more like wine women.. or men, and song" He says staring at the ceiling "Your name is Dagmar right? Sorry, it's all a blur" a beat "Pardon, Dame Dagmar. You're a knight"

He touches his horn, he may always wonder if it's lined up wrong, but at least it's not upside down

"Just Dagmar is fine."

"We're not like the big freehold at Bergen. Hemlock's court is way more formal, but he's a sidhe."

he ..chuckles "You know, that always struck me as funny. So many sidhe's are hes. I mean, when I first dream danced and found out about them, I had to fight a giggle. First time I heard it I was like 'hey, if she's a she, she's a she, so respect the pronoun and stop swapping' " A grin "But then I found out it was a homonym or whatever they call it, and I ..well, now I know it's wrong, but I chuckle. " A beat "Not to their faces, of course. the're beautiful people, but they're beautiful people with swords"

"Yeah, basically. Not a lot of them here - you might see Brogan or Alisa."

"Brogan is Kerri's squire, so you are more likely to see him."

"Some are nice. Some are jerks. " He nods "LIke any kith. Man, when I first became a satyr I thought they were all my buds" A shake of his head "Not so much."

"Sucks that they aren't all. But, like, most fae folks are okay?"

"Yeah. I guess they are." He nods "or at least, they get it that we're all in it together."

"Getting to appreciate trolls" He adds "A LOT"

He sits up right

"Well, satyrs ain't bad either."

"THanks" He says "You feeling better? You got cut up.. a lot"

Oak walks up to check on them both, cold nose pressing against Dagmar, then against Jarlet. Yes. One. Two. Both here. Good.

Then he demonstrates to Echo to do the same.

Jerant pets them, "Even the dogs are big"

"That's Oak and that's Echo, one of his pups."

"I'm feeling okay - heatherbalm does that."

"I should be in pieces, so yay heather balm" He pets the dogs "Hey oak, hey Echo"

And the door opens, a smell that is wonderful feels the room. Tove enters in, and there's a covered bowl of soup

Her spicy get better mom soup!

"Mom!"

"You're awake" She smiles "Hey, I heard you were healing up and resting up. I had to arm wrestle Sally Maee for the right to pick which of us got you soup when you woke up" A ping, but a good natured one "You want it now? I was just going to put it in the kitchen"

"Smells spicy" Jerant sniffs

"I'm starved. This is Jarlet, he's starved too."

"Bland is the enemy" Tove says to Jarlet "Nice to meet you, Jerant. I'm Tove King, Dagmar's mother"

Tove opens the bowl before Dagmar, "Well, I only brought one but you have this and I'll head back to the house and get another bowl for Jarlet, okay? Assuming he likes the food spicy too?"

"I love spicy," he says "And, thank you"

A spoon is offered to Dagmar "Be right back then" Tove kisses Dagmar's forehead not caring if that embarrasses Dagmar or not, and she heads out.

It all happens so fast , and then Jarlet looks at Dagmar "Am I allowed to say your mom is hot?"

She blinks.

"Could... you not?"

"You can think it, but, like... she's my mom."

"Right. sorry. Satyr hoof in mouth " He blushes "Sorry. won't happen again" And.. he means it

"That's the worse thing about being a satyr" He says "We feel everything more openly. I cry like a wuss, laugh too loud at the wrong times, and make comments like that. I've gotten better about watching it sine I got sained. Took the edge off" he rambles a bit

"I'm not mad, and you weren't an asshole about it."

"Getting sained really feels like getting centered right, you know?"

"Like... popping a joint back in place, kinda."
