"YUP." Jack says "Some places if you yell you can get echoes... RICOOOLLAAA"

Yes. He needs to cut down on the TV but winter means he doesn't get out as much

Kerri chuckles, then says to Layne, "And this is the Balefire."

Layne moves to it "it's.. it gives out feels like most fires give off warmth!" She is lost in wonder

"It's full of magic."

"Oh..this fire would never let anyone get hurt, not while it can see"

Layne says this as if it is the truest thing ever

"It's warm and fuzzy. But we're not 'llowed to make S'mores on it." A hangdog expression.

"We can make smores in the kitchen."

"The Smore the merrier" Jack says

Olgar comes in grunting "Who is making with the yelling at this early in the morning?" He blinks and sees a Centaur

Kerri watches the girl carefully.

Then her husband arrives and she gives him a bland look. "Well, if you'd get up earlier, maybe you'd already know."

"Olgar...meet Layne. Layne, this is Rover Olgar."

Olgar grunts "Nice to meet you Layne. You see a golden star go boom or something?"

"How'd you know?" Layne gasps

"I know manythings..." Olgar says but thinks better of adding 'thanks to a full 8 hours of sleep'

Layne is trying not to, but she can't help but stare at his face

Kerri, who is standing near Olgar, has no qualms against elbowing him in the ribs.

Olgar smiles his wife. his head turns

Layne watches his head turn tilting her neck

Then she steps forward and redirects the girl's attention to the balefire. "This is a font of glamour. Did Dame Dagmar explain about glamour?"

Connor makes a point to move over and give Olgar a hug around the legs. "Me and Mr. Olgar go way back. We're both Rovers, you see." Ears pricked up.

"That's right, litte man.. Dame Dagmar was lucky to get a real rover as a squire " Olgar nods and pats the boy's shoulder

Layne blinks as she's blocked rfrom staring for a moment, then looks at hte fire "No, I mean she said a lot of things and was very helpfu l but I don't remember that"

"I didn't get that far..."

Kerri nods. "Glamour is what makes us possible. If we don't get enough of it, we fade and forget who we are...or worse. If we get too much, we can go mad. So we have to be very careful with it. That's part of the point of a Lodge...to make sure that we protect our glamour source, and help those who need it get enough, but not too much."

"So the fire wants to protect us, but we want to protect it?" The girl says

"I suppose that's one way to think of it, yes," Kerri smiles. "Since you're new, you're going to need some help and guidance in learning how to manage glamour and how to live in the fae world. It's not always safe, and it's not always kind...but we try our best around here, as I think you can tell from the first ones you've met," she indicates the childlings and Dagmar with a nod.

"Now...enjoy some breakfast."

Connor straightens up with a bounce and whacks his forehead with a salute! "I am on duty!"

Olgar has been cleaning up and helping in small ways, and put the laudrny for the morning in the wash

Kerri moves back a bit, and when next she's close to Olgar says, "We'll need to figure out a mentor for her."

Layne grins and has some food. Standing at the table but if no one makes a fuss, she is okay with it

Olgar whispers to Kerri "Well, you're doing great so far but yeah. SOmeone suited to her temperment maybe"

No fuss, other folks digging in to food!

Jack certain digs in and starts to talk about the garden!

"I'm just introducing the don't-hurt-the-balefire concept," Kerri whispers back.

Olgar says "mmm well, who do you suggest?"

She gives him a look. "Maybe somebody who's had a full 8 hours of sleep?" Then a sigh. "I don't know, let me think."

"Not a full 8 hours" he says "You were kind of noisy getting dressed and that was at least a 10 minute intrusion so .. more like 7:50"

And he winks, then says "If I need to help teach her, I will"

Then he says to her "Get some more sleep. I'll take it from here for teaching, and Gerd will help with clean up. "

Connor is piling more bacon on Layne's plate. "I don't like it, so you can have mine."

"Well, I'm up, now..." she says with a frown, but then nods and heads back through the kitchen door.

OLgar mouths 'love you' and then turns to the kid "Okay, while we eat, I'm gonna answer any and all questions about the dreaming for Layne. "

Layne once again is hypnotized by the blighted face.

But Olgar acts like he doesn't see it or doesn't care... and says "So.. who wants to hear about the Escheat?"

Olgar might have his unseelie angle... which makes it different enough, but yeah, the kids have heard this, except for Layne, and they get to enjoy the meal or make side conversation
