She sets down the bale and shrugs. "Um. Yes. For.. like an hour now, I guess. Chief came over and asked.. and, well. I mean, Chief asked."

"I'm..." She looks over at Connor "Cmere" arms out stretched

He bounces over and squeezes her. "Am I stronger now that I have an oath?" He SQUISHES.... eh, still a bit noodly.

A BIG Hug

Dagmar blushes. "And, like - Connor's a good kid. So..." Shrug.

"I love you ver ymuch and you TOTALLY deserve a chance to be a squire" A look to Dagmar "I'm IRKED at the Chief and.. proud.. and stunned and.. argh if you guys had just called me I'd have gotten to SEE IT"

"Sorry Gerd. It just... I mean, it just happened..."

"Holy crap she pulled a Hemlock on you both huh?" Gerd says

"A what?"

"Oh - like Brogan and Kerri?"

"Don't worry. If it took me a couple years to get to be a squire, I won't be a Count like Hemlock for a long time yet." He says in a reassuring tone. "What's above a count, so I can get my nametags ready?"

"Duke. And I haven't met a Duke yet..."

"I've met a Dirk, they're probably about the same."

"Jeez, I hope not..."

"Oh I will have my due... I will have my part in this" Gerd says and declares "There will be a party to celebrate the squring of MY little brother! Dagmar, you don't HAVE to show up, but I'll sulk for a week if you don't"

Snerk.

"I can probably do that, then."

She pokes Connor in his tummy "Gonna give you SO Much Cake you say 'please, no more cake.. I surrender'.."

"Ooo, cake."

"I don't know if there IS that much cake."

"A theory we shall test. It will be an Okra free zone. In fact, any Okra that is seen gets flickerflashed far far away. Cake is King, Cake for the King's Squire"

Nose-wrinkle. "Okra."

"FAR away" Gerd says to the knight

"Good."

"Unless Connor wants it."

He wrinkles up his nose and doesn't seem to trust himself not to remark about the vegetable.

"Okay, no okra. My squire has good taste."

"It would seem" A nod "Squire and Knight united against an enemy"

"I could ask Tove to make pork chops... oh, I'm gonna have to tell my parents, yeah."

"DEFINITELY..." Gerd says with a wave "Tell them you are now obligated to provided shelter and food for your squire as his knight. Watch em panic until they realize he still gets to live at the lodge"

"I mean... no, no. I am. They aren't."

Gerd may realize that Dagmar might be scrambling just a bit. Of course, in troll, that mostly means brow-furrow.

"Traditionally the squire would sleep in a corner of a knight's room... or just outside it" A nod

"...oh..."

"I mean, my room is pretty big. I could get a bed..."

"HOWEVER... a squire also could stay at a knight's lord's lodging... which in this case would mean.. he coudl, quite honorably, stay at the lodge "A twitch of a smile at Dagmar

She chews on her thumb, looking uncertain. "I guess I'll have to talk to the Chief."

Gerd sees the chewing and pats Connor to walk off for a bit (if he hasn't already ) and moves to Dagmar "Dagmar? I'm pulling your leg. That's mortal knights and squires. Changeling knights and squires are a lot more relaxed about that sort of thing in a lot of ways. And he is still the Chieftain's ward so of course he stays where he is. "

Said in a quiet tone, ALMOST apologetic

"I could do it. I'd figure it out."

"You could, but you don't have to and you probably shouldn't" More seirous face now "This is a big change for him..you don't want too much too fast too soon, and..well big step for you" An aside "Look, I am giving you a hard time, but here's the thing... if he was going to be a squre to ANYONE i'm glad it's a quality knight like you, and that's not a joke"

She bites on her lip and sort of nods.

A look to the side, oh good, Connor is off, then "You nervous?"

"I don't wanna fuck it up."

"I don't think you will" She says honestly "You'll make some mistakes, but that's not the same thing"

"I just... I dunno. He's a good kid. I want to be there for him."

Gerd says "Welcome to my world"

"Well, you know I'd do anything to protect him - right?"
