(Turns out the shadow in the Lodge's kitchen doorway.... was Jessica. Who, after waiting a decent interval (or when discovered) quietly joins in.)

Siv sits around breakfast "You guys really didn't have to play the slippery fishy song for Jessica, here"

"Oh, I disagree," Brekke says with some amusement.

Frank nods. "She needed it. Family history. I'm glad she took a copy home."

"I can't believe you're making copies" Clearly Siv has not considered this

"Not many." She says it as much to reassure Siv as to remind Frank.

"Uff" Siv grunts "Now anytime I hassle her she's gonna have THAT ready to fire"

It would appear allowing Jessica to hear the song in full, let alone giving her a copy, has disrupted the delicate balance of power in the loving cold war that is sibling interaction. Either that, or Siv is perhaps being dramatic again

"Hmm." Brekke considers, then looks to Frank. "Do we have any ammunition we can offer to level this playing field?"

Frank chews his mouthful, swallows. "Mmm... not really. Not many baby pictures. Nothing from high school. Hm."

"Did she ever right bad fan fic maybe?"

Siv looks hopeful

"Or did she have a nickname? Though tis hard to beat out 'Fishy' for embarrising"

"Well...." Brekke considers. "There was the hair incident...."

Siv perks "Go oooonn"

A sigh. "I never understood that."

"Mm," agreement with Frank, then to Siv, "she attempted to cut her own hair. Bangs," she elaborates, miming scissors across her forehead. "She...was not happy with the results."

"Oh my gosh, is there photographic evidence of this endeavor? A year book picture, or?"

Siv's face is lit up between amusement, and yet also a sympathy for 'yester sister' with the bangmisfire

Brekke looks to Frank for that answer.

Frank shakes his head. "She was out of high school. Here."

"Oh that poor girl, she must have looked like..." A snicker, then she covers her own mouth for a moment, "Okay. I have to use this as a reserve for self defense and not abuse it."

"I do not think she would have allowed a photograph. Hats and bandannas became popular for a month or so."

"Yes, please use it sparingly. Only if she abuses the Fishie knowledge first."

"Actually, sis might look good in the right bandana" Siv admits, "Though I'm no fashionista. And yes, mother I'll have to behave myself. Thank you both."

Brekke rises, having finished breakfast. "I have patrol. Siv, thank you for being here, and thank you for the gift. It is wonderful." She leans over to hug her.

Frank stands and takes Brekke's hand to squeeze. "Good patrol. See you when you get back. I've got the garden today."

Siv hugs her back "yes, good patrol"

"And glad you liked" A blush

"Thank you, My Heart," she says, returning the hand squeeze. Then she heads out the door.

Siv watches her mom go, smiling, then looks back at her dad, "I admit it. I'm a bit pleased with myself the gift was that big a hit. I was worried I was going to seem cheap"

Frank reseats himself to finish breakfast. "Hand made and heart felt is always better."

"it does feel more real" She agrees, "And she's happy so.. that's what matters." A poke "Hope you're happy too? How long did it take you to get words to that ridiculous song anyway?"

"At the time, it came very naturally."

"You have more whimsy than you let on, da" A smile

"I was younger."

"Well, it's not a bad thing in moderation, I hear.. youth and whimsy" Siv says, then she admits "I'm glad mom liked her birthday. Did you see her face when Jessica stepped out of the shadows?"

A faint smile. "Yes."

"Yours too yes" A grin "I think sis has developed a bit of subconsious theatricality"

"Mm." Not convinced. "Jessica never cared much for the spotlight."

"oh no, but for you and mom? She'd endure it. She's like you, full of love even if she is reserved about displays"

Frank nods, eating.

Siv has finished her meal. and she looks at the clock "I really should get back to Earth Runes. "

Frank glances up, watching her a moment... he nods and swallows. Wipes his mouth. "If you must."

"Responsibilities" She says "So yes, I guess I must. " She gives her father a kiss on the cheek, "Let me handle the dishes, and then I'll be off"

Frank nods, having finishes. "No need. But, if you want to...."

"I want to," She says and gathers up dirty plates and glasses

His daughter is the soul of dedication and duty now... well, not in his way, but Frank can see she is more mature .. and some credit might actually go to Earth Runes. it's as if the transition has made her appreciate some of the things she's been taught here. She's learning what in her upbringing of value, and what to carry with her even there.

Frank sips his morning coffee, thinking.
