Dagmar finds her father at the shop.

"I'm coming too." She declares as she sets her backpack down on the counter.

"Huh?" ("Huh?")

"With you and Vali."

"mrmph" Then "How did you learn about this?"

"Does it matter?"

"Does to me" A grumble "This could be dangerous. Thyle is better now, true, but for a time it had as much intrigue and backstabbing as any sidhe court, and it's in the middle of a sea of monsters"

"Well, I'd be there with you."

"Aren't you a presuming a few things?" He says with a brow "if you're trying to pull rank, I've got Sir Vali to counter. You have school, and a girlfriend, and lodge duties"

"I mean, I'd be there with you - not like I'm going out on my own."

"Gerd will watch the horses."

"And I... this is for Tove..."

"It is," He nods and grunts ("Gerd is the one who told then I bet. Mmmph") "You know I'm going to want to protect you the whole time?"

"And I wouldn't protect you?"

"That's my worry, we might stumble all over each other trying to shield the other from danger. I know Thyle better than you do. Sir Vali is experienced. You realize you will be following our lead if you go?"

"Well, yeah. You're the boss."

"Mmph" ("Darn straight" ) a sigh "If I were THE boss, I would just tell you no, stay home. " A brow "But then you might try to trail us somehow from a distance and the idea of you in some rowboat following us is not so much funny as scary given the situations we might face. " A breath "I have to talk to Vali about it. He may say no"

"I want to do this." Emphatically. (I need to do this)

A ..softer look, then "Unless he says there's some doom he foresees if you're not here or the like, you can go." A beat "But you did just give me a hard task you may not have thought of"

"What do you mean? I'll help, I'm a good fighter. I can help."

"I mean I have to tell Tove we're BOTH going to be gone and hope she doesn't press on why or the whole mother's mask thing is lost as a surprise" He says "As it is, she's going to be annoyed worrying about two of us"

"DUnno... maybe, like, I'm going and you're going to watch your back?"

"She'll fuss if it's just you, too"

"Yes, but now it will be double worry and let's not pretend otherwise." He sighs "I'll talk to her. If I end up on the couch, don't blame her. Pregnant women get away with a lot"

"I just wanna... like... help."

"I know" He puts a hand on her shoulder "I know. It's good. "

"Now, we may end up asking Siv for help.. amazing how few magic ships there are. Chief and MOuntain probably not going to be able to go on this with the Kestrel"

"Oh yeah..."

"Mmm Gerd is watching the horses. Tove can take care of Odin and Two bit.." A pause "You and I need to let them know I guess? Odin is going to be pissy enough but if you don't have a talk first... "

"I can help too." Connor offers in a soft voice, peeping from around an endcap filled with snow shovels. "I'm good at 'splaining to animals and feeding 'ems and stuff... and I can watch the store..."

"Well, Carawyn will handle the people moments at the store, Connor"

"But I appreciate the help with the critters and things"

"I'm best with people." He says proudly, then adds, "Except sometimes girl people. They pet me with their hands, but they're petting him with their eyes." All innocence.

Soft sigh ("If i didn';t know better I'd swear he does that on purpose")

"I know you're good with the animals, COnnor - but don't give Stormwake too much sugar."

"O-KAY!" He gives a big thumbs up to Dagmar. "You can count on me. After all, he doesn't get all so much no more, not with Star-vin there. See, because she steals his treats like she's Starvin!" He giggles at his own joke.

A groan.
