On the phone before getting the lodge, he gets his mother on her cell "Yes?" She asks

He explains what happened with Ms Mimi.

"Oh my, good catch, Adam. I was about to head over to her house." His mom gets the details to make sure she can cover properly "She sounds a bit lonely, doesn't she?"

"Yeah, I guess. Maybe she -could- use a dog."

"I'll see what we can do, you're not the only to think so. I'm surprised your asking for a dog of your own."

"I think I'm good on animals for now, mom."

"I wondered, but okay." A pause "Where are you now? "

"Finishing patrol, on my way to report at the Lodge." Importantly.

"You didn't go to the grocery store with that gun toting chimera, did you? "

"You told me not to." Sullenly.

"Yes, well, I hope you see why." She either doesn't catch that he hasn't really answered his question or is letting it slide. "I'll go check on Mimi. You tel lthe folks at the lodge about it and tell them I said hi"

"I will." He promises. "Love you."

Pleased sound, "I love you too." And she hangs up.

Just in time for him to open the door of the lodge

He knocked first.

"Enter" Jonas?

And he does. He peers hopefully, as if looking for a redheaded goddess.

He sees Jonas, and Siv , Siv looks tired,laid out on the overlong couch.

No goddess?

Siv is, sadly, at best a demi goddess. And he doesnt' see any other women here.

Well, a guy can dream.....

"Are you investigating the lodge for a specific reason?" Jonas says

" I, uh, is the chief back yet?"

"Mom's not back yet" Siv answers "Sorry. Sally Mae said you were looking for her and to pass on a message if she couldn't"

" oh. Okay. Is Sallie Mae in the kitchen? I told her I would stop back by."

"She is," Siv says "And thank goodness for her."

" okay, thanks." He goes in search of Sallie Mae, in the kitchen.

"Welcome back, Adam. You hungry?" Sally Mae asks

" maybe just a little? I have some more news to report, too."

"Happy to hear it," She says "How does a steak sandwich sound?"

" amazing!" And while he waits for his sandwich, Adam fills her in on the warrior from the screaming owl, and what happened with Miss Mimi.

"Oh yes, Dame Ebba" Sally Mae says assembling a delicious looking steak sandwich

"And nice how how you looked after Mimi. She must be a very nice lady. Your mother will help her I'm sure. "

" I guess the Dame left?" He asks innocently.

"Came in, came out when she found the Chieftain wasn't here. Talked to Siv briefly. Mmph I don't know what Fiona training is like, but it clearly isn't easy."

" Fiona training?"

"She's interested in the house" SHe says simply "only troll Fiona I know is Charles and he came in that way"

" who?

"From the farm, you wouldn't know him" She says

" but this guy is a Fiona troll? And she wants to be one too?"

"Yes, and yes, though I don't think he's a factor in her choice. Siv has always believed Love Conquers all was the most important part of the Seelie Code"

" so her and Jonah?"

"Jonas, Though.. well, I think Jonah might be his mortal name. They're ..seeing each other. How seriously it is I don't know"

"Huh."

"You didn't see it? They squabble...fuss, and then go off walking together hand in hand" Sally Mae says "Glad some of the girls are getting romance"

Adam shakes his head. "Sally Mae, if your boyfriend doesn't shower you with compliments and tell you all the amazing things you're doing and get you some romance.... you -might- want to rethink things." World-wise.

"Adam, there are times I wish you had an older brother, and I thank you. But I don't have a boyfriend." SHe says with a shrug "or a girlfriend for that matter"

A confident grin. "Well, if you want a stand-in... you know, just for the romance and compliments....."

"Simmer down, city boy" Sally Mae chuckles and puts his food in front of him, "Enjoy your food." The meat between the bread looks juicy, and she has learned what condiments he likes.
