"What happens if you get tempted to use it on someone as a solution? 'For their own good'?" Olgar says

She turns and glares at him. "Well, what if it was? What if I saved people that way?!"

"Then you better hope they understand after, because this is the sort of power that can end friendships. Kerri, you're wiser than me and stronger than me in a lot of ways- but I know, speaking for myself, but there have been moments where if I could have ORDERED some boy sniffing around Sylvi to never return? I might have. And Sylvi herself... what if she won't listen, but now we dcould make her listen? Do you think she'd forgive anyone if they did that to her? I'm not saying yo ucan't learn Soveriegn, that's not my call, but this ..teacher you've got... a secret teacher? A treasure we don't understand? It's got to have a price tag attached"

She rolls her eyes at that. "Olgar, it's not exactly like learning Primal, or Spring, or Wayfare. It's not like just anybody is walking around, giving Sovereign lessons! And...I could have made you agree with me just now. I didn't. I've got this under control! Yes, I could use it in a way that would destroy relationships, you're not wrong, but if it saves the people I love...well, then, that's the important part, and not whether they still love me afterwards." Stubborn.

"Wait," he pauses, "you want kudos for NOT over riding my will?"

She stares at him. "A little recognition for the fact that I'm not weak-willed would be nice, yeah!"

"What part of 'stronger than I am' did..." he shakes his head "You are not weak willed, but even steel can bend ... if pressured long enough. Now stop putting words in my mouth, if you don't mind. And could you answer the question 'why are you only telling me about this now?'"

A stubborn look, and she turns, getting a few steps away, maybe a bit of a breather. And she realizes that the pan's still in her hand. Didn't she put it down? No? No... wait....

She takes a deep breath, and very slowly puts the pan on the counter...and lets go. She turns to face him, collecting her thoughts.

Olgar waits.

"At first...I thought I'd just keep it someplace safe, so nobody else could take it and use it for ill. I already had the Protocol thing...and...I figured you'd..." She hesitates. "You'd be upset by that. Then...I guess...I realized I could learn a little more. I mean...a Lodge with the power of Sovereign as well? The security that would give us?" A deep breath. "Then...after his Togail, Vali had those visions. The one he had of me...it's about...well...a copper crown."

She looks distinctively uncomfortable at that.

A raised brow, "I get the feeling this isn't a good point for me to interrupt" urging her to go on.

"Kind of wish you would," she mutters, but takes a deep breath and continues. "He said that, in the vision, nobody was looking at me when I put the crown on hard, and then it grew thorns or barbs and...and took something out of me. Made me like ice." Embarrassed.

Olgar inhales a lot more oxygen than is his normal wont through his nostrils which seem to flare but he says "First, thank you for telling me..." He nods

A cautious nod. "Second...?"

"Second... are you out of your mind keeping that thing after hearing a warning like that?!!" He points at the pan "why aren't we chucking that thing into Mount Doom? I know where to find Mount Doom, there's more than one in the Dreaming. "

She shifts to stand between the pan and his pointing finger. "Olgar! Because...Vali said he didn't know if it was all bad. Said it might be because of rushing into things. Putting the crown on hard, you see? I...After we heard about the Dragon coming, I thought, if I throw myself into studying with it, I could master Sovereign quickly, and that might help. But...well, I haven't touched it since the vision until today."

"When I go out on a deadly patrol, I try not to worry you, but I tell you about it.... and I do it with a purpose. The dragon is new ..newer than the possession of this pan. So this whole 'I can try it on the dragon' has to be new too. So I can't think of what purpose you have in learning something that's apparently trying to mess with your head as it teaches you how to mess with others." He says "I love you. And I appreciate you haven't touched it until now since you heard but Kerri, come on. This doesn't sound like some mOnkey's paw level stuff?"

"It's a valuable skill, Olgar." She's sounding reasonable, the way he was doing to her before. "But it's not a popular one around here. So, yes, in a way, the art itself is a dirty secret...but it might serve the Lodge. And that's my job, Olgar. To serve the Lodge. I love you, too. But I have a duty, just like you do. This can help me do my duty."

"Point of fricking order" He says

She folds her arms and raises her brows...but listens.

"First, treasures, being magical, if suspected of being dangerous especially, fall under Frank's role as Mountain. if you want them to be have military applications, that might fall under the Storm for the security. So why do neither of them know about this? "

She hesitates. "I didn't say they don't know."

"Do they?"

She hesitates again. "....No." Reluctantly. "Not yet."

"Then see previous question. Come on, Kerri. You just fought hard for respect of your role, and then you ignore Mountain? I'm not Franks' biggest fan but he deserves respect."

"Let's neither of us touch that thing until we get Frank to give us a look over and give his opinion, okay?"

"He's not exactly unbiased about sidhe, either, Olgar. Or Sovereign." She takes a deep breath and looks back at the pan. "I have to put it away..." she points out.

"Use a mitten ,please" He adds

"And biases or not, he's mountain"

She shoots a glare at him, but grumpily uses an oven mitt to pick up the pan and put it into its high cupboard. The padlock snaps in place, and she slaps the oven mitt down on a counter. "There. Fine?" Irritated.

"Thank you, and it won't be fine until..." A sigh "Thank you"

Sullen, she folds her arms again and looks out the window.

"I'll speak to Frank when he's back. Right now I have to make dinner." She crosses the kitchen to start gathering items from the fridge.

"All right. All right. I love you by the way, even if you are playing with the one ring in culliary form"

"It's not...." A sigh. "I love you, too. Go away."

"It's like she's trying to tell me something... " He mutters and slips out
