"Dad adopted me, though. He's my dad."

Siv smiles a bit for the first time in several minutes "Your dad sounds like a good guy. Dagmar traded up too."

"Dagmar?"

"Understood." Brekke nods, then looks to Sally Mae, an invitation to contribute.

She raises a hand at the name.

Sally Mae nods, "Forgive me, Chieftain, but if i may? my family has more experience with Kinain than most of your lodge. Gifts like his are not unheard of. I have a cousin who even when he disenchants doesn't forget a thing. And I had an Uncle who like him could see chimera even when not enchanted, but passed through them like they weren't real" Obviously they ARE real... they're dreams, "And it's chancy, but we've made it work for decades. Some speak to the dead, a few get visions like a Beaumayn... and some have bonuses in battle. It's all... well, quite complicated. Some of us even learn cantrips"

"Sam?"

"Many are the names of the fae...." Zane says "One for ears mundane, one for Fae conversation, and one true and spoken rare for the power in it. Woe betide the being whose true name lays in the heart of an enemy" Dramatic

"Sam is my mortal name, but Dagmar is my fae one. They're both fine."

Nadeen elbows Zane "He knows enough as it is" the sidhe clearly is not as trusting of this boy who sees too much.

Brekke listens. "I would like to hope that Adam could contribute, and would do so. But the situation here is different than it is in your family, Sally Mae. For a first point, Adam is not a blood-relation, and has no loyalty ties to this Lodge."

"Thank you, Zane." Brekke may be being a bit diplomatic in ignoring the drama of it all.

She glances at the book again, then at the kinain boy. "Adam...what has this book told you of what happens when the non-faerie see the fae?"

"They...... forget." He recalls.

"They should, yes. But that does not seem to be the case for you." She pauses, weighing what to say. "Does the book speak at all of the fae living in secret?"

"Well, they have to. Or they die. Like Tinkerbell."

Siv sighs "That ruddy overhyped never"

Brekke nods slowly. "Adam...do you see the difficult situation we are in, now?"

Adam is distracted by Siv's comment, then looks uncertainly at Brekke. "Uh. N...no? I mean.... Just because I see stuff?"

"No. Because you might speak of what you see."

"To who? Who'd believe me??"

A pause. "There is that." Then a sigh. "Nevertheless, Adam...I need you to swear to me that you will not speak of what you see of the fae world to any other than the fae that you have already met. Will you do this?"

He shrugs. "Sure. I promise. No problem."

Brekke shakes her head. "No...speak it as a complete oath. Say what it is you promise not to do...and what price you will pay if you break your oath."

Adam clearly has no experience with this.

Siv looks at her mom, "Mother. He doesn't know ...the power of them. "

"Does he know his tail might fall off?" Concern, and he holds his tail close.

"Mother?"

"He does not know much. But he is about to learn. Adam...what you say here will bind you. There will be consequences if you break your word. I am giving you the chance to choose those consequences. Choose carefully, and state your oath."

"Is that, like, a title? Like Chief?"

She shakes her head. "Siv is my daughter by blood and birth."

"You gotta cross your heart and hope to die, stick a needle in your eye. But... don't do that. Because that's... that's... ew." He covers his eyes.

"Uh..... could I have some paper? Write it out?"

A distracted look at the puppy boy.

Sally Mae gets some paper, and pen.

"Sally Mae? Paper and pen." At Adam's request.

"Oh." Realization dawns that maybe he said too much in some areas.

Well trained by Agnes and Kerri, Sally Mae is. "here you go..." She says gently "There are benefits with Oaths, sometimes, if the Dreaming likes what you said. Small benefits usually but it's not unheard of"

"It's a shame that he won't be able to talk to Gerd, or to Vali..." Connor remarks, as an aside...

Siv seems a bit unsettled by something but her features smooth quickly

"I didn't know Oaths worked for humans..." A soft aside to Siv.

"The power of an oath comes from the Dreaming, not the fae per se" Siv says "Heck, there's a whole art called Contract that takes it levels you'd not imagine. Its where the idea of devil bargains are said to come from"

Adam starts to work.

That in a whisper to her cousin

"Ohhh"

Finally, he looks up "Uh.... what about this?" He offers the page.

"Mm. A fair point, Connor. Adam, make allowance for asking my permission for speaking with fae you have not yet met. And you are not to share what you know with other mortals."
