Dagmar scowls a little when Rucker starts talking about "geometry" and "trig," looking all the world like a horse being confronted by a tarp.

"Just give me a few and see if it makes more sense to you than the stuff you're being told in school" He offers.

A stubborn jaw and curled shoulders. She hasn't said nay, but her body language is all tightly-coiled defensiveness. "S'fine."

And Rucker doesn't present it like a math problem, but as a carpentry problem.. ..letting her answer, then he translates it so to speak... and points out she's already solving the 'problem "All I'm doing is telling you the terms they use"

"But that's not... it's different at school." Sulky and dour, a world away from the kid who was measuring boards a half hour previous.

"Was for me too." Rucker nods.

"Oh Rucker, the girl was having fun now you're making her feel on guard" Dorothy says, "Let her help like she wants to help"

"I hated math at her age, same reason. Folks telling this way or the high way, numbers that didn't MEAN anything, weren't useful for anything. Turning numbers into real things didn't work for me, but once you gave me real things and showed me I could measure them with numbers, THAT I could understand," Rucker says

Under the usual trollish expression, she can note a bit of frustration from his own youth about it.

She scowls down at the wood and chews on her poor abused nails. Not wanting to fight or be rude... rather hoping to knuckle down and just wait for it to be over.

"Mmmph."

He tries again, pieces of wood...shapes...

and again, he tells her how she's already solving things after she's done it. It's like a trap! She.. she's doing stuff JUST Doing stuff... and then it turns out it means more?

The more he pushes, the more monotone her responses. She won't look up at any of the visiting DeBukes.

Actually, he doesn't seem to push... he recedes when she starts to go monotone, suddenly they're doing carpentry without comment, and just after she's gotten into it, then fifteen minutes later... "And you calculated an arc"

With the patience of the tide

She bristles.. before muttering. "I should get to patrol. Sorry."

Gale looks at her, the fellow Wilder looks embarrased and mouths 'sorry, grumps'

"..Sorry.." Feeling oddly defeated and out of sorts, she retreats from the building.

Dorothy shoots Rucker a look then says "Thanks for the help" as out Dagmar goes.

Dagmar retreats and finds Nadeen!

"Dagmar... I just heard," The sidhe says "Is there anything I can do?"

"I'm going on patrol." Gruff.

"Need company?" She says "Or an extra sword arm? Patrols by two are probably best"

Grunt, shrug. "If you want."

She tilts her head, and then with an almost trollish mannerism, she gives a curt nod, and walks beside the knight wordlessly. A quiet patrol it is, no chatter, no nonsense, no complications or complex questions or being forced out of what you know

Exactly. And maybe quiet company isn't so bad.

The sidhe and troll, once at odds constantly, move in vigilant harmony.

Dirk looks confused as he waits at the lodge.

He glances around, looking for Dagmar "You know why I'm here? "

Then a sigh "Are you even here?" He's not sure how he misses a troll

Grunt. Shrug.

Kerri comes out of the kitchen. "Dirk. Good." She sets down a hefty platter of food on the table.

"Yeah...well... I don't know what you said but I think I might be offended... " then he forgets to be surly when he sees the food, and helps himself to some throwing into his mouth "Ok. Mrs. Davidson.." Chomp munch "What's .. what's the deal?"

It doesn't seem to be just for him, certainly Dagmar can help herself as well, and Kerri nods her at the platter.

"Short form? We're going to be short handed. Need you to help guard." Kerri is all business.

Dag takes some, but mostly winds up pushing it around her plate.

Champ chomp blink.. " Wait.. you want me to guard?Guard what?"

"Rivervale." Kerri nods towards Dagmar. "Walk patrols, like Dagmar does, keep an eye out for invaders, spies, threats. Protect the fae and mortals who live here."

"You can show him how, Dagmar?"

"Kick bad guy ass, as needed. Maybe you can eat some limbs."

"Really?" Hopeful

"Whole limbs?"

Kerri frowns. "No, not really."

"SHit... I'd have like, a liscence to dismember? that would be... " then he's told not really "awwww"

"What if they're Leanhuan?"

"Yeah, what's up with that? Siv's got coma town and everyone's just battening down? YOu'll never make em scared of Rivervale if you do that. You gotta hunt em, stalk em, and make em your bitches"
