"Dinner is ready" A voice says

"COMING!"

Tove saves some progress, and then follows "Wash your hands, Dagmar"

"Yeah yeah...."

To her credit, Tove washes her too

And then, tromping downstairs. Food!

Twobit bounces about eager for falling leavings

Odin is too civilized for such antics.

Macaroni and cheese, green beans, and porkchops

Though he IS on top of the fridge, watching.

"Ooo... looks great, Dad."

"I tried to season the one on the left a lot, the one in the midddle a little, and mine not at all" Jaymes grunts

She laughs. "Like Goldilocks."

Knowing her dad, it's likely his idea of a 'lot' runs a bit short but she can throw some stuff on it

"I'm sure it's just right."

"If not, there's always ketchup" he shrugs

"Uh-huh." Dagmar settles down with her in-the-middle chop and Very Generous helpings of sides.

Tove dines on it, and smiles "Very nice honey"

She'll sneak pepper onto it later

"Thanks" he enjoys the meal

And seconds of mac-and-cheese, with some green beans going to the dog.

"Dagmaar..." Tove says

Jaymes 'accidentally' drops some mac and cheese

"JAYMES." A look at him from Tove

"What?"

"Stop feeding the dog human food , especially at the table," Tove says

"Oops" Jaymes says

"She likes green beans. They're good for her."

"She's going to be fine without them, and if you give her that sort of thing put in in her dog food bowl" She says and looks to Jaymes "Ooops? You're trying oops?"

"only one Gwydion at this table," Jaymes says "So.. ooops" an actual wink at Dagmar

Tove throws her hands up

"Okay, enough for now."

When they finish, Jaymes rises to do the dishes

Dag dries!

"Thanks" Jaymes says when she helps

Her dad seems more at ease now, as if he's shaken some doubts or insecurity

Dag is quiet - she doesn't want to rock the boat!

Then, "I'm sorry I couldn't pay the whole thing myself."

"...What? Why are you sorry?"

"I know six hundred dollars is a LOT of money... may too much money for.. I mean.."

"It's not.. not the too much part." He says "You don't ask for much...and this could help your schooling, and definitely your game, and you're excited. It's not too much to hope for. " He looks at her, "And if you get your 225, you'll have earned every minute at that camp."

"I just.well, your dad is sometimes old fashioned and that makes him a bit .. well, proud and stupid or something. But one kind of pride that isn't stupid in pride in you, how hard a worker you are and how hard you try in all things you do."

"I might be able to earn more..."

"We got the rest" Jaymes says "or will soon." A nod.

And soon the dishes are done.

"Well, if I make more it wouldn't hurt."

"Nope, it wouldn't hurt. SOme fun money to spend while at the camp."

"Well, maybe."

"maybe. Got any members of the team you're a big fan of?"

"Oh, Tina Charles. She's from Jamaica."
