Well, too good to last.

She's in no hurry to move yet.

The wolf turns, and his golden eyes find the troll. They are quite penetrating in their gaze, then finally, the winged wolf.. speaks! "One wonders what another one seeks to do watching one? If the other thinks this one is prey, that one will find no easy meal"

The tone is quite formal. Not snooty formal, and not British per se, but still very dignified.

"Of course you aren't prey!"

"You're... wonderful!"

"Well, fortunately this one's mate thinks so, yes" He says but does seem to pose a little, "This one is known as Embereyes. Would the other also give a name? Wolves, winged or no, have little need of names it is true, but we have learned other peoples require it. One endures, no?"

"Good name. I'm Dagmar."

"One greets you, cautiously. Wolves of any type are not always welcome, one knows. Know that One does not intend to feed upon your cattle, your sheep, our the creatures you set to watch over them. Nor does One's family. We seek only the substance of the wild." A tilt of the elegant head as Embereyes notices something else, "You of Gwydion's Pack?"

She touches the green and gold knot at her shoulder. "Oh, yeah! You know the Houses? I'm a Gwydion, yes."

"One knows a few, but all wolves know of House Gwydion, he was , after all, the father of more than a few of our lines. Including mine"

Her eyes widen. "Oh! During his punishment? I heard he was a wolf for a year and a day, yeah..."

"So you're sort of a cousin?" Smile.

Amusement in those dignified eyes, "By this time, one could say the branch has well become its own tree, Dagmar of Gwydion, but yes. You may notice One's wings resemble those of a falcon. Good. One chose haven well. One's mate shall be pleased, and more importantly, One shall be able to point out he was never lost." This last seems quite important.

"Oh, very important. Gotta keep face." She nods. "If you keep going north, you'll find the other wolves."

"The Groo."

"Ah, one doubts many could see us," A sigh "Sometimes the trees drift too far apart I fear. But still, their wise ones could. This is tolerable. We seek to make haven in this wood. One meant what one said about not feeding upon your herds or pets. Would their be more demands for this to be agreeable?" Cautious

"Yeah, leaving the pets alone is important. And Snow - she's a monkey. But I don't see why it would be bad. I should tell the Chief you are here, in case somebody gets dumb ideas about hunting. I don't think anyone would, none of the locals..."

"One has observed one always needs fear idiots who hunt for sport or trophy rather than food. Such wasteful behavior would make one weep if he thought of it too long. Yes, please inform your Akela of our arrival. One would never have done so hastily were it not for the danger."

"What danger?"

"A foul creature, old but battle wise. One would not advise a giant such as yourself say his name aloud too often, for it is said he hears a troll's voice most of all and dines on them quite happily."

"A monster?"

"Well, we have warriors here." A firm nod.

"A dragon who chooses to be a monster" Embereyes explains

"Well, so far as I know we have no dragons here."

A sniff in the air "Not yet, but Skallestyke moves for some reason, and One fears he follows like a plague. One suggests we all stay alert. Your pardon, but One must take the meat to the young. They are weaned, and One's mate intends they do not back slide now that they have fangs. One hopes you understand."

"I do." A pause. "And I'll tell the Chief. She's a Gwydion, too."

"Good. One is pleased to know this. Farewell for now, Dagmar of Gwydion. May the only howls you hear in the dark of night be the songs of friends" And just like that, he grabs his prizes, and flies off...further into the wood.

She watches him go. Boy does she have a story to share!

But... oh, shower first...
