It shatters

For a moment his color returns just a bit more "Dags, careful, cut yourself if you're not.." And he blinks "Who's dags? What.."

Tove kisses him, and her own color fades just a bit, and his comes back, barely. He actually has horns.

Barely.

"Wow that was.. " Jaymes says "I'm okay you two, I'm okay."

"What happened?"

"We... we have to go to the Lodge. You need the Fire. Right?"

"Banality happened I ... Autumn person came into the store.. thank god, I think he's crossing to another state."

"Dagmar is right, you need the balefire" Tove says

"I can't go running to my brother and his wife every time I face a little challenge.." Jaymes says.

"That's not... not, you were hurt. It's the Balefire. That's what it's for."

"EXACTLY what it's for" Tove agrees, "Now, are you going willingly or am I having Dagmar DRAG you there?" Her jaw sets "And don't think she won't, she and I are agreed on this."

"I can pack up dinner. We could have it like a picnic. Tove made meatloaf."

Dagmar has never seen Tove in this mode before. Kerri, even Brekke, sure...but this is the first time she's seen Tove use the 'Wife's DEMAND' tone.

"That's a lovely idea," Tove agrees, "Isn't it, Jaymes?"

Jaymes grunts "You want to leave me my balls here?" A low whisper.

"you get them back" she whispers "When you put your brains back in to go with them." FIRM look

Dag's jaw juts out. "You think getting yourself better for your wife and daughter is, what, something only a pussy does?"

Tove nods at that, firm!

"Okay, okay.. I'll go. Just..s omeone get the plate up. I don't want Twobit getting cut"

"I got it." Broom and dustpan.

Tove packs some things for a night stay

Sweep sweep sweep.... try not to let the worry show, though that tends toward yet another scowl on Sam's part.

Soon the broken plate pieces are all swept up and dumped into the bin safe . Tove comes down with the night stay bag. Jaymes says "That's not necess.."/Tove slams it down on the counter and looks at him. Whatever he was going to say, he changes his mind.

Once the shards are clean, Dagmar prepares three servings in tupperwares before stashing the rest in the fridge.

Tove nods "Thank you, Dagmar." She puts Two bit on a leash "Odin will be okay tonight I think."

"I'll leave out extra kibble, we're good."

With that, they head towards Rivervale lodge. Jaymes mutters more than once that this isn't necessary... but Tove won't hear it, and soon Brown Dog is barking. Twobit barks back, as if to say she's pulling rank on all bigger dogs! Her person has NEEDS!

"You know I can tell when you're lying..."

Mutter mumble grumble

The door opens and he's brought before the balefire, and settled down. In the light of the balefire, he almost looks normal again. Like her DAD.

She keeps a nervous eye on him, setting out food. She starts to relax as he looks more "himself" again.

Tove has gone gentle, and is now fussing over him nicely, and she looks over at Dagmar "Dagmar, would you be so kind as to get the.." A few extra chores, nothing that takes her far from her father, as Tove borrows from the Kerri school of how to put Dagmar at ease as best she can. A few things to do but still a part of things

Errands help, at the very least they are a place for nervous energy...

Then Tove pats the spot on the big couch between herself and Jaymes.

Dagmar settles in, maybe not happy... but she certainly wouldn't be anywhere else right now.

"What about your homework?" Jaymes says

"Did it already. Right after school."

"Okay then" he says

Tove says "Well, I'm going to put something on the TV, any preferences?"

"Forged in fire?"

"Forged in fire it is" She says and clicks it on as they eat. It's probably not the sort of dining the hearth would normally approve, Tove knows, and the tV is barely touched by the Chieftain, but she is sure they'll understand that right now, the skald needs to help her family feel normal again..keep her husband by the fire (Or by Freja, she will be moved to violence!) and give Dagmar a comfort she can share with her father.

Dag starts to pipe in with commentary - mostly echoes of things Jaymes has said of other shows "Oh, that's gonna warp" or "he's not getting it hot enough"

And Jaymes seems to revive as he nods and grunts agreement and says much the same "Yeah, he's quenching too soon"

Twobit looks all three over. While she would like the food, thank you, the human food, she decides for now, she will patrol and protect her persons. Even Oak and Edelweiss take her seriously on that. Dogs, like trolls, understand duty.
