A glance over her shoulder. "Not quite yet, no." Then another look at her. "Siv, come in, quietly." She opens the door, and points her daughter towards a table where she can put down the tray of delicious smelling food.

Behind her, Frank rolls over, putting a bare arm out over the cooling spot where Brekke ... was. A sleepy pause. "Mmphm."

"I am here, Frank," she assures him. "As is Siv. And breakfast."

She listens to him breathing for a moment, then tells Siv, "He has drifted off again. Siv, sit." She herself takes one of the chairs near the table, large solid oak chairs, simple but sturdy.

Siv mutters low to her mother "I .. dad was being dadish the other day, setting me on edge a bit... making me prove mhyself with the car again again... and I knoew he meant well, but zane and Bix were there and it got embarrassing.. but okay.. then we got in the car. he made a .. is it a joke? I guess... when I was trying to do right. And i misunderstood and popped off. Lost my temper."

Brekke listens. Then a nod to the breakfast tray. "Then this is...a peace offering?"

"More like a part one of it. The apology verbal comes later when he's not comatose and after he's got a good meal." She sighs "Dad does what he does out of love, and I was way oversensitive and disrespectful."

"Were you cruel?" A neutral look.

"I don't know" She admits honestly "I thought he was mocking me . He said he wasn't...I told him he was always putting up barriers to what I want to see and do and sometimes its hard not to resent the hell out of it" She quotes herself more or less. "he..he had me pull over and drive the rest of the way home.

"You were not driving already at that point? I thought you said you were?" Her voice still a low murmur.

"I was.. I ..sorry, maybe I wasn't being clear. While I was driving I was reciting the rules of the road to show him I had studied and prepared. I'd been studying SO hard. Then he made this ..comment about grammar" She quotes the I and E joke/comment "And he went in on 'since we're quoting rules' and It felt like.. mockery, dismisal, like he wanted me to shut up and do it right and.." A sigh "Taht's when I got mad, he noticed, asked what was bothering me..and boy I told him, you betcha"

Brekke listens, then nods slowly. "Siv...if I may...I think he might have meant that you did not need to prove what rules you had learned. Your father prefers demonstrations of skill rather than recitations of rules."

"I was trying to do both and... It felt like it got thrown in my face. Like it was another barrier."

"Which I realize he ..didn't mean it to be." Siv says "Mom, I love dad, but sometimes I don't understand you or him right at all. I'm sorry."

"Mm." A nod. "That is normal, Siv. Uncomfortable, but normal. Imagine how much more difficult it would be if we were not all fae?"

Another deep breath/sigh.... Brekke knows he's waking.

She taps a finger on the table, nodding towards Frank to let Siv know.

Then she clears her throat. "Frank. Siv is here. She has brought us breakfast, and it smells good."

Siv sighs and readies the food.

"Mm?" Hazy waking, Frank pushes himself up on his elbow.

"I ..brought you and mum breakfast."

Bare-chested, Frank blinks and rubs his face as he sits up. "You did? Well... thank you." Still waking up.

"Siv, let us talk about this more later, yes? But the breakfast is a very thoughtful thing to do, and I thank you." She takes up one of the mugs of coffee, and takes a sip.

"Well I... "Siv moves to her dad setting it down "Aye."

"And mom, will do" A nod "I'll leave you both now. Dad, I'll...."

A sigh "Later I need to talk to you as well, Dad"

Frank looks up at her. "Something wrong, Siv?"

A look at Frank. "If you are awake enough now, Frank...then Siv, you should stay. But perhaps I will wash up."

A nod to her mother "Okay, mom. See you later. Dad can let you know how it goes if I don't do it first"

"Getting there... " mumbled into his coffee cup. After a sip, he sits up fully and tucks the sheet around his waist. "What's up, Siv?"

A nod, she finishes her coffee in a few large, bracing gulps, then goes to take a shower.

"Guilt, mostly. I was horrible to you the other day in the car. " Siv says "I mean, I ..misunderstood, and then over reacted. And I fear I hurt you "

Frank takes another hit of coffee, and shakes his head, swallowing. "You did not, Siv. Hurt me, that is. Maybe I spoke without thinking."

"Oh, I'm a troll. I should be thicker skinned. You meant no harm, and I could have just had an honest talk about what you were hoping for, instead I simmered and simmered and blew my top. You deserve more maturity from me, especially since you are trusting me to act like a grown up"

"So... there's the apology sooner than I meant I guess. Was going to let you have breakfast first. Sorry."

He chuckles, setting the coffee down on the nightstand. "It's ok, Siv, and no apology necessary. Not for my sake, anyway."

"Well, maybe it's for mine, I do feel I overstepped and maybe even hurt you. Even if I didn't, I got mouthy and ingrateful. You and mom do a lot for me and I don't want to take it for granted." a small smile "Hope breakfast is okay. I don't cook near as good as the Hearth.But who does?"

Frank smiles. "I'm sure it'll be great." He slides the tray over and takes a bite.

It's pretty good, but then she picked stuff he liked so bias is being relied on. His daughter doesn't come close to Kerri, Sally Mae, or Tove but it is clear she took a few lessons

Frank eats, then nods. "Mmm." No further comment, his mouth is full again.

Siv smiles a bit "I should let you eat. I'll be back to take the tray later. I think Mom's fallen asleep in the tub"

The sound of the shower does shut off just then.

Chewing, Frank glances at the bathroom door.

...if they're expecting her to emerge that quickly, they're misguided....

She whispers "You'd think the dirt would know better than to ever settle on the Shacklebreaker, les the legend glare the filth into submisison, but nope, she showers just like us sidekicks" Then a grin and she moves to leave

Brekke is here? We're gonna need a bigger coffee mug

Frank clears his throat and swallows, taking a sip of coffee. "Smartee." Mild reproving, but without anger.

Brekke does return, robed, toweling her hair which is wet and loose (something Siv has certainly seen before, but rarely). "Ah. The breakfast has not been thrown across the room. This seems to be a good sign."

Frank chews speculatively, watching Brekke. "It's good."
