CHIEF Kerri finds herself dealing with things she's not used to... before, she was the proxy, the one folks went to sometimes asking how the Chief Brekke would react.

And she still is, darn it, because They're Coming Back...but she sighs inwardly and listens attentively.

"As you can see, uhm.. Chief," the boggan says "There's an opportunity, if we try to influence this new subdvision instead of blocking it as usual, we can set up a nice little neighborhood." The boggan in question is in construction, does good work...but he's not crazy about the RV system of trying to keep strong green belts

"And...where is it again?"

"We can muse it... and it will only be a few blocks" He proposes showing his chart. His family is mostly boggans and one or two pooka

"Just three miles out from the lodge... but it's oval so that would be the narrow point. The rest goes further out away"

Some of the Thanes (possibly Dagmar?) are nearby during this presentation

"Yes, but further-out-away where?" She peers at the map, trying to determine if it crosses any key spots.

It cuts through a child's park...and some low woods that had been regrowing since a fire a few years ago.

"Now don't worry about the park, we can incorporate it" The boggan says

"Incorporate it? But...wouldn't that mean it would be part of the subdivision? Not open to the kids who use it now?"

"Well.. ah.. .. obviously the neighborhood MIGHT form a committee to decide what restrictions are in their best interests just like everyone"

Sylvi has gone out on a day patrol...which might involve also getting away from the Lodge for some time with her boyfriend.

Kerri looks again at the map. "Do you have designs? What would it look like?"

"Oh yes, I have designs.." He shows some.

Gerd peeks in from the stairs and is frowning

Kerri looks them over. "And...who's backing this project? Fae?"

"Well, my family has a good chance at contract and we're mostly kith and kinian"

A chance?

Kerri may not be a Gwydion, but years of handling the lodge's purchases and good common troll sense do pretty well.

"Now Rog, he's a mortal, but I've mused him once and I think I can direct him to do things our way"

"Once. What did you muse him to do?"

"Mini golf course investment"

"You've been there, the one with the dragon you have to roll the ball up?"

"Yes. That's cute, and clever. But...this....This is a bit more ambitious and impactful than minigolf, you've got to admit."

Further back, waiting her turn to address the court, is Mrs. Wayburton, a kinain herself.

"Well, yes," He says less confident for a moment "But Rog has co investors to make it possible"

She takes a deep breath. "So, you're asking me to make a statement to support the construction when it goes to mortal planning, rather than us opposing it. They'll have to do a bunch of studies to see if it impacts the environment too harshly, I think. I'm willing to hear what they have to say then, but...I can't say I'm thrilled with this." Then, "Wait, do you know who the co investors are?"

"It's an out of state company" He confesses, "Named Burly & WHirley? I don't think they've got any scandals but theyr'e looking for growth in the area aand I figure if WE direct them instead of opposing it might work out better in the long run, and yes, it would help my family. Chieftain Brekke well, she's a good woman, but she's also very... pro green? So I was hoping you might...consider things in ways she might not. I ah.. don't mean to cause conflict, but right now you do have the authority"

Then he adds "These are tough times for families, and I've got kids"

Gerd is definitely frowning

Kerri tries to look sympathetic. "I get it, but trying to sneak something by while the Chieftain is away? You can understand how that looks to me, and why it would make me cautious. Can you find out whether Burly & Whirley have any fae associations? And meanwhile...your family is expert in construction, but perhaps we can find a way to help fund you to get some certification in green tech? Solar panel installation and so on? That might help...?"

"Well, funding the switch IS the problem" he admits "I have to get permits, and they may require certification training on paper....probably send one of my kids for that, but it's like a tradeschool"

"Of course...but in the long run, worth the investment. And I do like your approach of looking at the musing opportunities...we should be doing that more in general, I think." She directs that to the court at large, and then looks back to the boggan. "Can you get me information on what would be required to help your business branch out in that direction, and I'll see what we can do to support you."

"I can do that and, I'm sorry if this seemed shifty. Just..well, I suppose I was being so a little. Yes, I'll get you that info to either go over yourself or the Chieftain if..when she returns"

"When she returns," Kerri confirms with a nod. "Or before then, yes. Thank you. Now...Mrs. Wayburton?"

He bobs his head,and leaves.

Once he does, Gerd mutters, then announces "YOU MAY APPROACH"

Kerri winces, and mutters, "Sorry, Gerd, I forgot."

Mrs. Wayburton looks at Gerd as if she's adorable, then does approach "Thank you, K..eerr Chieftain. " SHe smiles "It's regarding Carnival. I understand that the Lodge is planning to hold that at the Count's place proper yes?"

Maybe only a boggan would notice, but Kerri shifts slightly each time she's called Chieftain, as if about to turn and see if Brekke's standing behind her shoulder, but she catches herself. A nod to Mrs. Wayburton. "That's the plan. After Imbolc, we thought it....only fair." A wry grin.

"Imbolc was wonderful" She smiles "but I don't blame you one bit. Well, as you know, satyrs and their kin know how to throw a party, and meaning no disrespect to the Count, we thought we would rent an area for a night , our treat, and have a place for commoners who are less comfortable with courtly matters to hang out.. you know, bonfire , beer and so on. We're not trying to make anythihng official, there will be no carnival queen or fool, but we'd like to make the offer unless you feel it's not appropriate?"

Kerri smiles. "I love the idea. Do you have a place in mind?"

"Oh yes, " She names the property, not quite manor sized but yes it could host a party, and if things get wild it has plenty of cover from public view. "There will be a trago there at the time, but they're good lads and lasses. We plan to have the 'wilder' stuff on one side and more calm drinking on the other. I actually borrowed a few ideaas from your recent Imbolc to incorporate into it"

A few mutters from others observing

Kerri listens...are these mutters of protest or interest?

Interest actually. Not everyone, but a few folks seem to think it's a good compromise

"Well, as far as I'm concerned, it sounds great, but..." she turns to the room "...I'm willing to hear other input, if anybody has anything to add on this?"

A few talks questions , as much for Mrs. W as Kerri about BYOB or food arrangements, and if one can go to the counts then back later, or vice versa without offending...
