When Brekke finds the note she reads it...reads it again...sighs deeply...and lets Frank know that Siv has left word of her whereabouts.

What an imbolc! Ever since then, Colton has been a lot more regular at texting, and even visiting...but they can't ditch school Too much going on. And Sylvi has discovered that even as a B squad cheer leader? She's on the in crowd! It's not JUST the cheerleading, of course, but she makes good grades, and has natural leadership qualities. Suddenly she's the popular girl with pull. IT feels good. She's come a long way from that time she was selling tests behind bleachers.

Okay, that happened ONCE in elementary school and it was a spelling test and she felt really guilty later and learned a valuable lesson and gave back the goldfish crackers....but we digress.

Right. So perhaps it should not be a surprise when she sees a girl approaching her nervously. Clearly, said girl wants something but is skittish

On top of the post-Imbolc, pre-Valentines dance zone, she's having a Really Good Hair Day. Life is pretty sweet as she changes stuff out at her locker.

She notices the girl after a moment and gives her a curious look. "Um...hi?"

"Hi, you probably don't remember me..." Actually Sylvi does... not by name, but she's seen this girl hugging the far side in one of her classes. "I was... my name's Leslie? I was hoping you could help me with something?"

"Hey, Leslie. Yeah, don't we have math together? What's up?" She checks her makeup in her locker mirror, makes a quick adjustment, and shuts the locker to give Leslie her full attention.

She looks left then right then a deep breath "There's something weird going on with the A team of the cheer squad. My sister, she's one of them?" Oh sure, Lilian! She's older, and far more popular "She's been going to their practice and acting funny. I wondered if you knew anything?"

The squads often practice near each other, but the A team does have it's own set up

"Um...what do you mean, 'funny'?" Given recent events, Sylvi gives Leslie her undivided attention.

"Okay, she stays out late... tha'ts not new, right Popular girl, dates with guys? I ..guess it skipped me. but sometimes she sees so tired. I thought , maybe they were on drugs? Because other times she's really amazing, better than last year"

"You mean like...sometimes she's really super good at everything, and then she's kind of burnt out?"

"yeah I guess.. I don't know, she's testy and agressive, moree than normal.. and pumped all at the same time... and other times she seems really tired and sad"

Sylvi frowns. "Does she have any new friends you never noticed before?"

"No, but one of her friends is acting a lot the same. You're a cheer leader, they might let you nose around.. I'm just the annoying dork sister. " Haples sshrug "I know you dont' know me, and you sure don't owe me, but everyone says you're cool.. and if I went to the school and said my own sister was on drugs, it could ruin her"

Leslie looks a bit panicked

"Oh, no, no way can you do that. And look, she's like three years older than you, no fair comparing yourself to her. Okay...so A-squad and B-squad practice at the same time and sometimes together. I'll see what I can do to talk to her. The other friend, is it another cheerleader?"

"yeah, Vickie Poole" SHe says. Yeah, Sylvi knows her too. "Vickie is normally sweeter than my sister, pardon for saying so ... but even she's been testy when I asked"

Sylvi thinks for a moment. Is there a new coach or assistant for the A-squad?

Nope. Well, there's an assistant but not new

And the assistant just as often helps the B squad

She sighs. "I don't have any ideas right now, but...okay, it might be drugs, it might be something else, it might just be senior stuff, y'know? Stressed about college and stuff. But I'll see what I can figure out, okay? And I can talk to you before next math class?"

"Sure sure...and thanks, Sylvi... I really.. I know dumping this in your lap is so unfair, but you.. everyone says you're good to turn to in a pinch"

Sylvi smiles reassuringly and shrugs. "I try. Hang in there, okay? I've gotta get to class."

"right. later. Thanks" and thanking her three more times, Leslie heads out

Reassuring her that "it's cool, no worries" Sylvi heads to class, making sure she's got a little dross in her pocket and looking inside her backpack once to mutter to Flopsy, "You heard that?"

"I did. Think it's ravaging or something?":

"That's my first thought. But then...I was wrong about what was going on with Gonzalez, so I don't want to be too sure too early."

"A very good point? But really? who ever predicts werewolves at a sadie hawkins dance?"

Sylvi almost laughs at that, but catches herself and closes up the backpack as she heads into class. She's a bit distracted as she works through the rest of the school day.

It's a good thing she's a bright cookie, the distraction only hurts her a little.

And studies go on

School passes quickly enough, and there is cheerleading practice tonight

Sylvi keeps her concerns to herself for a moment, but promises "I'll fill you in later" if any of the others ask what's got her distracted. She changes quickly for practice and gets out on the floor ahead of the rest of B-squad, hoping to watch the girls on A-squad for a few moments.

Nadeen is there, of course, she's been in a better mood of late. As they are stretching, she says to SYlvi "Don't worry, you'll join them next year at the least." Stretch stretch

Stretcccchhhhh.... "Yeah...but...well, couldn't hurt to get to know them better, right? Do you know any of them well?"

"Mmm not so much, well, there's Jill, the strawberry blonde? We have a common interest in the ballet."

"Yeah? That's cool. Um...what about Lillian? Or Vickie?"

"All I know is they've really upped their game.. they've been leaping higher and..well, see for your self " Sylvi can see Vickie leap from the bleacherrs to land on Lilian's shoulders, not even a grunt as Lilian then lifts her up

with a lot less effort than would be typical

Sylvi blinks at that trick, then frowns...and Nadeen would recognize her kenning face.

"THey're not fae, I went ah, looking" She whispers "You know, figured if nothing else it would impress the others if I found another on the cheer team ready to pop. But nope. Now, I have not checked the chess club" Wry

"No, they're not...but...they are mortal," Sylvi whispers back. "And unusually talented..." she lets that trail off to see if Nadeen gets the hint.

"oh.." mmm Nadeen says "you think a muse? Perhaps I..." /a voice "Brown, Davidson...it's good to have ambition but not if it blinds you to the now" Their coach says

"Oh...um...Sorry!" Sylvi gives an embarrassed smile and gets back to paying attention to the drill at hand...but after a bit she fakes twisted ankle. "Ow! OHhhh....ow!" A wounded-bird type stumble.
