"Let's get down to business, to defeat, the huns.. Did they send me daughters when I asked, for sons?" Vali bellows the song as the girls practice and train with weapons!

Dagmar doesn't practice with the real Flyswatter - she has a wooden weapon of equivalent length and heft. This... is not the first version thereof.

Nadeen groans "is he insane, or just deliberately annoying?" She whacks a poppin jay

Sylvi snickers. "They're luckier to have daughters!" she calls back to him as she jabs a target with a practice spear.

"It's from a movie." Thwack, spin.

"I vaguely recall" Nadeen sighs.

"Nadeen, straighten your arm a bit at the delivery" Vali says

Siv is practicing staff fighting

Sylvi thrusts again at the target, then glances over at Siv. "Vali, can I switch and spar with Siv?"

"Sure, and yes , ladies I know that you won pennons, but I promised the Chief while she was visiting the Count for a meeting that we'd keep training you since you patrol"

Siv nods and motions to Sylvi "Got an urge to slap me around for a reason, or just a whim?" A grin

She thrusts the bottom of the practice halberd's shaft at the poppinjay, sending it spinning in the OTHER direction...

"Mostly whim, but you did stretch out that sweater of mine a bit in the shoulders." Sylvi sets aside her spear and picks up a staff. "Plus, I need more practice with staff, I think."

"Nice, Shot, Dagmar. See if you can control the spin,"

"Like.. control how?" She swings the halberd like a baseball bat, catching the dummy mid-spin.

"Ah," A light blush from Siv "You might have me there. Was a fashion panic. "

"Yes, it can teach you control of the weapon in ways you might not be used to" Vali says

"It was ridiculous, but you've got good taste." Sylvi grins and aims a smack at the older girl.

"But like... control the spin in what way?"

Siv is more agile, quick, and weaves "I looked good in it"

"Here, let me show you?" He asks

"Sure?" She steps back, offering out the practice weapon.

Sylvi tries to close the distance and try again.

He takes it, and shows her "See, when you hit it here it spins like this..." Whack, "When you strike there.. just so, there's barely any spin at all..."

This time Sylvi clips her, Siv retaliates with an attempted jab to the gut

"Oh, but that's less fun...."

"you want a fun challenge yo ucan get it back and forth like this..." the moves are strong, rapid and flipping back and forth , left to right, right to left

Siv's quicker, and Sylvi isn't used to the weapon, so she doesn't block in tie. "Ooof!" as she gets poked in the gut!

"Right in the turkey holder" Pleased, Siv grins and twirls her weapon to show off

Sylvi frowns and whips her staff's end around, aiming for her calf.

"...Okay..." A slow nod, watching, before she takes back the practice weapon for her own try.

A block from Siv, "Good speed." Not quite good enough

Dagmar might find it kind of annoying or even less fun at first, but if she keeps at it, she might soon be getting that spin control

"Notice where you hit does what," Vali says "it's not the same as a life target, but it will help you with accuracy against live targets in the long run"

She grunts, furstrated. "Why don't I just hit it HARDER?"

"Because hard is only half the game... for strong to do good, Strong has to make contact. " Vali says

Sylvi sighs. "Okay...so how do I get it to land?"

"Like this... " Siv says her jerk ing motion with a zing to Sylvi's left th... no it's a feint, right thigh!

"Hmph." And Dag lets loose a full-force swing at the offending pell.

"Oh!...HEY!" A block at the feint, so she's wide open on the right side, and gets smacked. She tries to follow with a quick counter-attack to her ribs.

And it's possible Dagmar gets WHAMMED by the pell spin if she's not careful

"woo..." Siv grins as she gets grazed, "See, you're thinking it through too much, slows you down. Now me, I'm quick. I don't think" an embarrassed look "Can I rephrase that?"

A glare as she ducks away from the spinning arms.

"Tht's the other reason" Vali says "One day, Dagmar, you might run into someone who is almost as strong as you, but more accurate. So it's good to build your own up. See if you can hit it without spinning it, it maybe dull, but it also teaches you to hit the sweet spots"

Nadeen is observing with her own target, and getting better and better... "I have the pattern I can see..."

Sulks. Tap. Tap. Tap.

Sylvi smirks at Siv's comment. "I've heard that about you," she winks. "Okay, so...show me. How should I be holding this to get that speed?"
