"uhm... see, " The redcap says "I noticed Scrot snuck out...so... I went after her to get her back but , like...this tree, she got up this tree and couldn't get down ,and I was like 'wuss cat' and then I remmebered you liked the cat... and So I tried to get her down, but coudln't quite get up there, so I thought I'll bring the tree down to get her to the ground safely and ....bam..it fell wrong."

"Not a baby sitter. A guardian." She pauses. "I think I was supposed to be older than you."

Brekke nods. "I thought it might be something like that. Let me see where you are wounded."

"Father can't account for everything, I mean, it's amazing we're in the same...town but,maybe" Nadeen agrees. "it's just so..frustrating that i Needed you. I'm not a child, and now I have to wait a year and a day while everyone thinks I'm helpless and knows what's best for me? I'm a sidhe, I'm used to giving commands, probably, as the baroness points out, too causally. But now I have to do everything others tell me to do for a year and a day? Ugh"

He looks at Siv suspciously

"Relax. I'm a girl but I'm not going to tease about a ruddy wound" SIv says

Dirk pulls his shirt off, showing a nasty abbrasive bleed along with the brusing... he breathes carefully "It don't hurt much"

"But you don't know how the world works... like.. the browns are okay, but most people aren't."

"I guess...school seems to have nice teachers."

Brekke nods. “You were planning to just let this scar over, eventually?”

"It's what I did before, mom didn't take me to the clinic. who can afford that shit?" Dirk says

Siv says "We heather balm, its free"

A cautious nod from Dagmar. "Mostly, I guess."

“Mm. Well, you know what I think of that woman. May I heal you?” She gives every indication that she won’t without his permission.

"Yeah" he says glumly

Brekke nods, and takes the shirt from him. She holds it out to him. “Spit.”

Nadeen looks over the tree "Tanya..had problems. Did you know she was bulimic? "

"She always... she had everything so together, I thought... and she was pretty, she didn't need to worry..."

Brekke nods approval, then quickly twists the shirt into rat tail. “Hold still.”

"She didn't think she was that pretty, and she was afraid if she got fat, no one would want her... the browns took her to a counselor. She made them promise not to tell. I..think that's why they spent some time with her only" Nadeen says. As pieces fall into place

The SNAP of the shirt sounds like a bullwhip in the small room, and the glamour of the cantrip hits him with a sharp sting.

The boy grunts rather than cries out.

Glamour flows and then he does need steadying...which Siv does , as a rib shapes back properly first, and then the chest heals some

"Easy there," Siv says/"Yeah yeah, I'm good" He touches his chest "Shit, that was awesome"

Nadeen bites her lip, "She was terrified you'd find out, you know? That the whole school would"

A satisfied nod from Brekke, and she drops the shirt on the laundry pile before fishing Peach out from underneath,

"Mew?" The cat says happily. Peach is a love bug, a disgrace to those of cat kind who belief aloof indifference or carefully rationed affection is far more dignified

And the redcap's face falls

She hesitates... then tugs up a sleeve. "She shouldn't have been. I... before the Browns, other placements..."

The cat gets tucked into an arm, and absent scritching commences. “She seems to enjoy your room.”

"Yeah, she's not fussy about my mess" The boy says cautiously

"Sam sometimes was in bad places." Above the old cigarette burns are a collection of pale scars - parallel lines, mostly straight.

"Oh dagmar," She looks over, "if father were here he'd have the ones who did this to you flogged"

Siv looks curiously at her mom

"..Feels better to be in control of something, even if it hurts." She yanks the sleeve back down. "Sam was weak. Dagmar's strong, though."

"Sam did this to herself?"

A nod from the Chieftain. “Perhaps...there are so many animals at the Lodge now...you might help us by caring for her here. With Anne Marie’s permission, of course.

Siv smiles

"Not... not all of it."

"Flogged" The sidhe repeats then

Dirk says "Look, I know I shouldhave ..heywha huh? " Then "I can KEEP her?" perhaps a bit too loud

A shrug. "Bet Tanya had bad people, too."

Siv chimes in "Mackerel doesn't much like the competition anyway. Selfish creature, my cat"

“With Anne Marie’s permission,” Brekke repeats, carefully not smiling.

And she solemnly hands Peach over to Dirk.
