OOC: How I saw it...August was walking back to the stable....C caught up with him...they fought...she stalked off, so would be ahead of him getting back. The other two are still on the trail. However, August could certainly have said that quietly to Charles outside of C's hearing.

OOC: So he's talking to Charles while C's still getting Samson settled.

OOC Ok, let's do that.

August continues taking care of Locke, getting him clean and settled.

"Of course," Charles says

She comes out of the stall. "Charles, the others are probably on their way back in a few minutes...help them tack down, will you?" Her tone is subdued and distracted.

August has decamped elsewhere.

"I shall," Charles says, wondering where Master August went but saying nothing

Locke is happy in his stall.

Claire and Magnus return shortly enough. The former looking vexed, the latter more confused now and a bit miserable.

She looks around, but August is no longer in the stable....she heads out and looks around for him briefly before walking back up to the manor.

She finds him in the front foyer, backpack on his shoulder, heading for the door.

By coming in, she's in his way...and stays there.

He stops, watching the floor.

"So. I do disgust you."

And she steps aside.

"No." whispered.

She says nothing.

"You don't. But I... I don't understand your point of view."

A pause. "Nor I, yours." Quietly.

He nods slowly, head down.

"What I do understand...is that we both hurt. "

Another nod.

A sigh. Then... "Write to her August. Make her see, with your pen. The way you've always made me see."

He shakes his head. "I will try." A pause. "Would you read it, before I send it?"

"Would you want me to?"

"I'd insist... if I thought I could."

"I would. But why?"

He looks up at her, the first time since.... "She's your daughter."

She meets his eyes. "Our daughter." Quietly.

After a moment, he nods. "Ours." Then he looks. "Magnus?"

A sigh. "They said goodbye as I was coming up from the stable." She glances to the door and the drive beyond. "Probably gone by now."

"I suppose I'll go back to EarthRunes early."

"Oh. Ok." He shifts his bag on his shoulder, his expression destitute "I.... Thank you."

A flicker of a grin. "Not how I wanted this to turn out."

"Me either." Miserable.

She shifts a bit in place, uncomfortable, unsure what to say.

Awkwardly, just as uncomfortable, he rubs his chest.

She catches the gesture, then meets his eyes again (if he looks up at her). "August."

He does not look at her, but he stops.

A breath...then she shakes her head, pacing in place a bit. "I don't want to....I want to resolve this, dammit." She rubs her forehead with one hand.

Softly. "Well... you will be Sained. "

A bitter laugh, hands falling to her sides. "And that is the solution to everything?"

"No." Calmly. "I apologize. I'm sorry, Coradel, it's not on you."

She looks at him...and it clicks. "Because I am not sained. It's not on me because...I'm not yet fully a part of this world. " A scowl. "August, I want to help Deryn...."

"As do I." Firmly.

"Then...you must." She folds her arms and looks down at the floor.

"I will write to her. Will you read it? Before I send it to her?"

"I will." Not moving, not looking at him, grim.

After a moment, he looks. Not exactly enthusiastic.
