"Sorry, Locke...." He murmurs, and slips off, bouncing lightly onto the path.

Samson snorts, shakes his head, bridle jingling.

"I was hoping you" To Coradel " would have enoough money to covertly buy her apartment and take some pressure off her. " Magnus admits, "But I don't know if that's actually your money."

The Ailil looks thoughtful

Without looking, he offers the reins to Coradel to hold.

She frowns, accepting the reins, then looks to Magnus. "I don't...I don't think I have access to as much as would be needed. You mean to buy the building, yes?" She thinks.

He paces away flexing his hands, fisting and opening, head down.

"It was a thought," Magnus says, "A stretch. And I'm sorry. I shouldn't assume things I just...feel frustrated." A look at August, "And I'm not alone."

She watches him briefly, then looks back at Magnus. "What amount do you think would be needed?"

"None of is a stranger to frustration, I think." Irritated.

"For the building? Not sure. For her rent or safety? I imagine even a few hundred would buy off her time but she'll never take the money from us. Too proud for charity." He says

"That I can certainly manage without much trouble. But...how to get her to accept it?"

Claire observes their reactions, "she suffers from an abundance of duties that exceed, or will exceed her ability. Interesting, she's done to herself what my House did to me in fostering. Only she's rigged things against herself. She won't quit because she feels obligated not to quit. She won't take help because she's avoiding you all for fear of somehow runining you anyway, and she doesn't want to be a 'hindrance'." A frown, 'I like her, but she's done a very nice job of trapping herself AND all of you. Though if you mention that last she'll just collapse further and you'll feed her tendency towards self flagellation. Well, I know what I'm going to do I think."

August looks around at Claire, listening.

"Yes?" Coradel gives a little tug on the extra reins in her hands to keep Dolly from eating herself sick on the nearby greenery.

"I'm going to rob her parents." Claire says, "You know, the people who should have ignored their duty to provide for their daughter. The ones who owe her some inheritance. Maybe I'll enchant them and threaten them into handing over hte money, maybe I'll find some way to rob them indirectly... but it seems to fit the repay all debts angle yes?"

Magnus sputters

"Don't enchant them." Flat.

"And that still doesn't answer how she'll take the money." Looking away again.

"You don't command me, Sir August. " And I won't let it risk Right of Ignorance"

A smile. "I want in."

Claire says it just as calmly

Magnus winces as Coradel joins in, "Look ah, Ladies. Mortal crimes have a risk of their own. I know, I work the other side in stopping them. And August has a point. How do you get her to accept the money?"

"And I think you should enchant them. Or...well, something so that they give her the money themselves."

"Since you work on stopping mortal crimes, Magnus, it seems to me that you're supremely well suited to figure out how to succeed in them."

"But...no crime necessary if they hand over the money to her themselves."

His mouth drops open as if he cannot believe what he is hearing.

"Wait...wait. Magnus, she's a legal minor, still dependent...is there no mortal law against the abandonment of duty to a child?"

((OOC I don't think she is....))

Magnus says, "She's 18, not a legal minor anymore."

OOC: Or older I think

"Oh..." A sigh. "Well, that would have been a convenient approach...."

BIC: "And we get back to the problem of how they could be autumn people, Oooor... how even enchanted, what makes any of us think we will have a check written up for her that way?" Magnus raises a brow

"She not a minor in the eyes of mortal law. We are." To Coradel.

"I cannot believe I'm listening to you talk about enchanting and manipulating her parents this way." Simmering. "Talking about -money-??"

"Screw the money!" Flaring. "You want to approach her parents?!?! Get them to ACCEPT HER."

Hands flexing.

She glares down at him from atop the horse. "I would not have her go near these people again, except to spit in their faces." Cold.

"Attack those poor, ignorant people? Great. Just dandy. It won't make any DIFFERENCE!"

The look he gives Coradel is both furious and stricken.

He draws himself up and nods.

He starts to turn, pauses.

He carefully puts his hand over his heart, bows, and then turns and walks back down the trail.

Claire blinks, rather stunned by August's outburst

She continues to glare after him as he goes, her fury high. Samson prances and shifts, but behaves.

Magnus sighs, "Folks. He's a Liam. They protect even unworthy mortals."

"But her parents owe her a debt and..." Claire frowns "I don't understand how the Seelie code doesn't demand some restitution here."

A tight-jawed sigh, and she turns to Claire. "If I can get the money, can you get her to accept it?"
