It's "Deputy of Heraldic Education" - so, one, I get a fancy title & can style myself as "Buckler Herald" and two, it's all about a: finding teachers and b: pointing students at teachers

And, ok, politically - taking a kingdom level position is good for visibility. This is a nice step up from doing local stuff.

You can't register a "heater" or a "buckler" that is... floating in space, so to speak. You can have them as a "charge" on a field. So, a picture of a shield on a background that can THEN be displayed on a shield

So, anyways. There's artwork for a Buckler shield as a charge. I have a fieldless badge which can be displayed on any background. So - what if I take the artwork of the Buckler, and stick my fiedless badge On it?

Well, obviously above my head in some ways but it sounds sensible.

Basically:

My SCA surname is "Coscombe" - coxcomb. So. Stick coxcomb badge on a buckler, et voila

It's striking.

Not literally unless you're bashing people with it, but it is visually appealing.

The struggle continues

Speaking of old woman: I spent a large portion of this afternoon spinning wool. Now I'm finding I need to purchase a yarn winder.

Well, need is perhaps an exaggeration, but I want one, dammit.

Depends. The manual ones are between $15 and $25 (unless you want a wooden one, which is in the $50s). The electric ones are in the $40-$60 range.

I'm looking at Amazon...but I guess I should look at non-Amazon sources, too
