Mr. D, they do that to get a recording of your voice saying your name, the word "yes" and the word "no." There would have been more questions to elicit those. That way, they can work their way past other bots when committing identity theft.

Back when I was super sick. I went in. Paid a fee. They offered to test me. Did so, told me I was clear. I then get a bill from the place that did the testing. Probably all legal and to be expected but it still felt like I'd been grifted

The thing is, though, that bloodwork doesn't actually cost $800. We're taught that healthcare is enormously expensive, but it's our system that makes everything cost so much more than it costs in other developed countries. That's what makes us need insurance, which reinforces the industry.
