Thing1 has sullen, truculent attitude; everything he's supposed to do, and everything else he's asked to do, is a HUGE interruption to the Very Important Stuff he's doing. And what he does do (with ill grace) is half-assed, shoddy.
Thing2 has a better attitude and demeanor but is still not doing what he knows he should be doing; half-assing it.
