As a Guy, I have less to say in these conversations regarding impending child birth, but can I just say how funny it is to me to hear the date of birth referred to as 'D Day'? I mean, I kind of get it. Some old Vet "I stormed the beach at Normandy" , and a young woman "Oh yeah? I had something the mass of an X-Box leave my body on MY D-Day"

the worst bite was in entertaining. I -LIKE- having friends over and telling them just to show up and providing a lovely spread.

People are, for the most part, willing to bring something, but asking/coordinating so it's not 3 bags of chips and nothing else makes me feel.... bad. I don't like asking people to contribute to MY organized get together... weird hangup there

Hopefully you can find a middle ground soon. Having a good home isn't much good if you're not able to do the things you enjoy in it.

Honestly, the brain weasels might be getting to you - people like a potluck lots! It's its own thing, but the socialing and fellowship are more important than the food

What about offering to host the potluck, but enlist a different friend to organize who brings what?

Maybe you could make a game of it? Like a scavenger hunt for vague food items?
