It's a busy weekend; both boys are booked, Thing1 with a Scout project, Thing2 with a friend's bday party.

TODAY he gives me contact info for the bday girl's parents and instructs me not to call till evening when the mom is home. Fine, but WE are busy this evening too. So I call when we get home, at 9. Leave a voicemail. Get a text in response.

Since the kids didn't put the parents in touch until NOW (night before the party) they didn't get Daniel a ticket.

SO I'm blowing $300 for him to go to this thing tomorrow.

It's frustrating.

1-day, 2-park ticket + present + food$$. Gas and tolls and such as well but I wasn't counting that.

I mean, it's not the birthday girl's mom/family fault; they had to get the deal on all the tickets they DID know about.

It's the KIDS, Thing2 included, that put the cost on it.

I have decided that I'm going to get some damn information before Thing2's coming birthday. In writing.

I'm going to choose to look at this $300 as an investment. He will NEVER AGAIN do this, or he just won't go. This is his ONCE.

And if it happens now at 14, that's not a bad thing.

I'm glad my great grandparents owned land in Arkansas that the government ended up wanting and thus paid for, allowing for a nest egg that's become an inheritance down the line ....

((sigh)) Another perspective; Thing2 was originally asking to go to Universal & HP; would have cost over $1K even with some savings involved. He changed it to a more-local spot that's going to run ~$700.... so this $300 just puts us back at the cost of his original party.

It's the tardiness of the information that gripes me.

But, again, I can fix that.
