our version, you mix up a packet of jello, wait for it to be part-way set, and mix in a container of cool whip, maybe a drained can of fruit cocktail

it's creamy & fluffy & delightful

sometimes we do orange jello w/mandarin oranges, while fruit cocktail is more likely with cherry
