We have reached the point where Jewel firmly associates treats with the speech buttons. However, I'm not sure she understands who is who. She tends to indiscriminately mash buttons when excited. She gets excited about treats. So...

However, she DOES at least guess correctly part of the time?

Who is who might be harder than core concepts. "Treat", "Play", "outside"

I mean... there are SIX name buttons. That's a lot.

And the placement of the buttons has a lot to do with it. I'm wondering if pictures and a printed name label might be easier for her.

I would think Mommy-voice and Valencia might be confusing with Mommy-voice and Mom

Honestly, all of the guides I've seen start with concepts. "Play", "Eat", "Walk" not names, so that might be a clue as to where to go

What's funny for me is when Jewel goes 'deaf.' She will very deliberately sit, look up and away absently, and refuse to respond. Then shoot side-eye to see if you're buying it.

Bae does that when she doesn't want to leave a comfy spot, like my side of the bed. Then if you go to move her, she flops over and get's heavy

Jewel doesn't get on beds but DOES get on the living room armchair and couch. She knows DH disapproves and not only vacates when he enters the room, she has the grace to look guilty about it too.
