Frankly we're shocked that he's relatively healthy otherwise. He's very, very overweight and doesn't take good care of himself.

The good news is that he seems to have had a bit of an epiphany and this might make him turn a corner

Oh, hell. I've got a friend who's been on kidney dialysis for about two years now. It is NOT a pleasant experience. I hope your friend gets to avoid that.

That's fortunately. My friend has no hope of kidneys recovering, and his bloodtype is O-, so finding a donor is going to be damn near impossible.
