Oh, I am figuring out ways to indulge

I don't have a scale, so it's been a while

It really IS all about cooking at home, for me.

And/or smart grocery shopping; sometimes DH shops for the fam and I make a stop for myself. There are weeks when I KNOW I'm not going to have time to put together my salads so I need to pick some kits up. That's ok.

I am still not enthused about salad

No one is, not really.

I suck at making things for lunches that actually taste half-way decent.

My goals returning to work this week, diet-wise, are:
1. V8 before I leave the house
2. Bring breakfast and lunch

I just assemble things that I can eat.

3. Salad x3/wk

Lunchmeat rolled up, handful of snap peas, handful of baby carrots, handful of grape tomatoes

sometimes lunchmeat is in a half-sammich.

I also will do these atkins shakes on days when I just... can't even, and need calories

Likesay, BrekkeP, what works for me is prep-ing on the weekend and shopping smart to make it easy to prep. I like little snack boxes, too, so I'll assemble those for nights when I have after-work appointments.

I find if I prep beforehand, even if I package carefully, the food just doesn't feel as fresh as I'd like. Or maybe I'm just lazy and want people to serve me, dammit, even if it's just over a deli counter.

I keep looking for good WW lunch plans, but most of them seem to be designed for stay-at-home people who don't have to carry their lunch anywhere.

Catnik, do you do the Atkins shakes at home or at work? If at work, how do you get them, well, shook?

I did invest in my salad kids and snack boxes, but if they're a week or older I feed 'em to the boys.

Ah! And therein lies the secret.

Because I do some of my on shopping, I can get things for myself that are 'treats' - fruit I like, a special cheese, good crackers, yogurt flavors I enjoy, so on.

I like the fizzy fruit-flavored waters like La Croix and Bubly too.

See, I've got all the dietary maturity of an 8 year old. If I have food, I will eat it, so I can't keep snacks at school because I will eat them ALL on day one, so I'd have to package them with discipline. And there's that Dunkin' Donuts that's just SO convenient on the drive home....

Oh yes, fast food in general, on the way home..... VERY dangerous.
