J. B., a young fellow from southern Ohio’s city of Gallipolis, where his strong speech accent was like that found in Kentucky, turned his interest to Carol who sat next to him in the window seat. “Lookee ther Carol, we’s passin’ yer house, ‘n’ there’s yer mom a wavin’ a yeller flashlight at us’ns.” Carol quickly turned to look out the window, then, sheepishly realized J. B. had “got her”—especially with his exaggerated accent.
