Well, Shaw was , if I read right, supportive of the suffragette movement

She married Freddie. And got a flowershop. And Freddie was useless but sweet. And Pickering was kind, and they would all get together for sunday dinners and bicker.

It reads like a very impassioned fan fic.

Except, of course, Shaw's the author.
