Valencia has been noted to use the upstairs quite a bit. She naps on Thing2's bed or in the depths of DH's office.

Jewel stays downstairs since she learned early it was impossible for her to go up the stairs without explicit permission.

When I first got Bianca, she got into my closet, behind the clothes and squeeeeeeeeezed into the little wedge of space between my leaning stack of portfoilos and the wall.

Yup. One of our cats figured out how to get into a little gap in the wall where there had once been a functional built-in hamper. Once in there, she managed to get all over the place in the space between the first and second floors. Made me VERY anxious. But I think she's too big to fit in there now.
