After dinner I made an attempt at using sliced deli turkey to create a turkey gravy and use that as a hot turkey open faced sandwich. Limited success, room for improvement but not disgusting. And Thing 1 eats EVERYTHING.

growing up, there was a little restaurant up in the mountains, near the lake where my pappy fished, that had the BEST hot turkey. White bread, but real turkey and this ELECTRIC YELLOW gravy

nope - just real stock, real fat, some giblets

Mine is a lovely dark brown but not a hit; -I- think it's a hair too sweet due to dried cherries used instead of cranberries but 2/3 others think it might be too much of the standard herbs used.

And, you know, I had to fake the gravy; didn't have turkey stock so used chicken, used sliced turkey and the usual mirepoix veggies with some mushrooms thrown in, roux, and then BLITZ in blender to combine all smoothly. Return to heat and finish.

BUT Thing1 will eat it!
