Well, the book is great of course, and I say that with all due biases because I spent many a happy hour transported in a Yorkshire town when I was younger. The fact a TV show I also enjoyed moments of has it's actual 'Herriot' there narrating, and doing a good job of it too brings the nostalgia even more home for me. Young fellow gets a job offer to the small areas of Yorkshire, meets a good if sometimes mercurial and bombastic boss for his job, meets said bosses brother (The war of siblings is a recurring theme but in a mostly good natured way) and several quirky locals while working on animals he had only handled in theory before. Of course, the irony is, Alf Wright (Who had to go by a pen name because in the early days Vets weren't allowed to advertise for themselves) was Scottish, and Christopher Timothy is definitely English in accent
